Hi folks,

I've joined this group to find out more about RAV4s so I can buy the right one!

Currently in Victoria, I'm moving to Perth, WA soon and will be looking at buying a RAV4 in the range $5,000 - $10,000. I'm not interested in frills, just want a straight car that doesn't cost the world to run or maintain.

I know norhing about them, so any basic info would be greatly appreciated.

do they have a diesel model?

what are their main problems? engine? body? drive train? transmission?

3- door or 5- door?

auto or manual?

can they take a tow bar?, tow a trailer?

at what sort of kilometers on the clock do they die?

any comments appreciated.

Regards,

Rob :)

Hi Rob,

Did you end up buying a Rav4?

I just bought a 2002 Rav4 Edge, 4dr, Manual. I absolutely love it. Was very lucky I think, got it in that price range, and with 160,000kms which was very low compared to other Rav4's and especially for a 2002!
