I own a 2004 Kluger CVX AWD - 240,000K. Great car

About 100,000K ago the VSC (traction control) and check engine lights came on when I started the car. I was on holidays over long weekend so I could do nothing. Lo and behold both lights went off again a few starts later.

Since then it has happened periodically and I have not worried about it thinking it would be dirty or loose sensor. It always goes off after a few starts.

Now it is happening twice a week and I am getting frustrated. Toyota charge a fortune to even look at such a thing in Australia - Any suggestions?

If a warning light has been on, the ECU will have a diagnostic code stored.

Try ringing your local dealer and ask for a price on reading the code(s) - max 5 minute job.

From there they should be able to quote a repair. If you want to get the repair done elsewhere, make sure you know the code(s).
