I purchased a second hand 2009 (latest shape) prius in december.

it was one month out of warranty and had only travelled 10000kms.

one morning i stopped and parked the car.

upon attempting to start it again, the car would not shift out of park.

turned out to be a spike from crank agle sensor or wiring taking out the power computer.

had to picked up with cradle as it could not be dragged onto a tow truck.

dealer took 3 weeks to diagnose the fault.

i believe toyota came half way to cost of fixing it (generous I think not).

how would you be if this was in the middle of australia.

worse still, what if it was a lexus hybrid 4 wheel drive and this happenned in the Sydney harbour tunnel.

car would have to craned onto a truck or just dragged out and causing amazing damage.

i dont think toyota have considered this.
