correction kit for 4 speed auto A340-A343 fixes sloppy shifts and torque converter burn out

Hi guys I'm a transmission specialist from NSW thought I should share this with you guys. If you didn't know the a340 has a bit of a Lubrication issue and causes it to destroy the bearings in the torque converter. This causes you to blow the converter and the gear box especially bad when hauling weight. A new kit has come out to slightly raise the pressure so it doesn't shift to h**** but fixes the sloppy shifts this transmissions have especially when cold and also opens the oil feeds up to get the lube up to the pump and torque converter more. 9 out of 10 hilux 4 speeds I build need a new converter or costly repairs to the converter. It is getting very hard to find used ones as well and a new converter is around $1200 and really adds to the rebuild bill if you are unfortunate enough for this to happen to you. So heads up the kit is just over $100 a new filter while the pan is off and a external transmission cooler could save you thousands. Everyone I have fitted have been happy with the out come. Cheers guys

I want to get this kit but unable to source it. No-one in Melbourne seems to know of it.Could youplease advise description of it and maybe who can supply it.Repco?? Also is it possible for me to drop the pan and fit it at home? My transmission makes a funny hydraulic googling noise (not mechanical) when cold, first thing in morning, also a tic tic tic noise (mechanical) like flywheel just touching on something when driven. But all this ceases after couple minutes and it all then works beautifully.EXCEPT now the lock up torque converter does not cut in at highway speeds. It will cut in only if I'm going down hill and ease off the throttle. The moment I resume even the slightest throttle it cuts out. I have a tacho and in odrive at 100kph it is 2000 rpm,but cuts back(or used to) when lock up activates,to 1600 rpm I figure the cheap kit you mention is worth a try, since I,ve described symptoms to a couple of transmission specialists here in Mornington, including Toyota, and nobody can advise.Hiux 2004 twin cab ute ,3rz 2.7 l engine with model 340 trans.,135,000km

Can I thank you in advance and does anyone else know this problem ? ...Brian

Adric, thanks for reply. Couple questions: Filter is metal mesh, washable, and have already washed and changed fluid 6 months ago. Might do it again, though,I suppose. Also can I fit the kit myself at home or does it need a transmission specialist to do it? How much will kit cost me delivered? Thanks,Brian

You don't need a transmission specialist you just have to be mechanical minded and should be able to do it the kit comes with instructions. You have to remove pan and valvebody open the valvebody do the mods and put is back in. The kit is $120 plus delivery about $10 anywhere in oz.
