BUT........This has brought up a good question is there a timing chain kit that will fit for the rollas both for 1zz-fe and 2zz-ge (both different kits of course) but hey i would love a timing chain for exactly that reason "you dont have to change them and they perform a whole lot better over all and it sumtimes gives a cool buzz!!!!LOL kinda sounds supercharged!!!HAHAHHAHAHAAHaaa :P  :D

I know that current Rollas have timing belts, and those need to be replaced at 100K.

Both 1ZZ and 2ZZ have Chain.

Chains do stretch and the guides wear out. Then they rattle and get noisy.

Ask any Datsun 1600/180B/200B/Bluebird + Magna/Sigma owner.

Personally I prefer belts a la 4AG/3SG etc.

I know that current Rollas have timing belts, and those need to be replaced at 100K.

But can you buy timing chains to replace belts?

So what does the 01/02 rollas have.....belts or chains?

All ZZE12* Models are Chain Driven that are sold and delivered new in Australia. Please check you manual for further information.

I stand corrected ... I think!

The service book doesn't mention either belt or chain, just an inspection and appropriate adjustment of valve clearances at 80K ... does that mean the chain is relatively maintenance free, and therefore the traditional 100K mega-service is a thing of the past?

I assumed that timing chains were a thing of the past ... but we all know what happens when we assume, don't we?? :P
