We've just bought a 2010 Hybrid Camry and we love it! We upgraded from a 2002 Suzuki Ignis, so as you can imagine, it is a massive upgrade.

So far I've managed to get the drive to work down to 6.7 l/100km, which is as good if not slightly better than the Ignis. Over the weekend we drove from Adelaide to Strathalbyn and found the drive extremely comfortable and quiet. We have the standard Camry Hybrid (not the Luxury) that has the standard non-sat nav audio system with the smaller screen for the display and reverse camera. The absence of the Toyota sat-nav is not an issue as I got a TomTom Via 280 as an early birthday present.

The only thing that we've found to be an issue so far is the ipod integration with the audio system. At first we thought it may have been a fault with the unit or user error, but after a bit of playing around and some research, we think that it is just the way the unit functions. The first issue is that when using the ipod through the usb, the arrow buttons to scroll through albums/artists are greyed out and cannot be used while the car is moving, which means to change artist/album, the car must not be moving. Is this the case? If so, is there are way to override this? I have read about people complaining that the sat nav can't be operated while driving and that there is no override, so I suspect that this is the same deal. The other issue that is related to this is that scrolling through the list of artists/albums is very slow and cumbersome, especially as I have a 160gig ipod classic with a lot of music to scroll through. The fact that you can only select music whilst stopped and it takes you up to 5 minutes to select something is quite annoying, although it may not be so bad if you could use the tune knob to scroll through and select music quickly.

I thought there may be some sort of mod or firmware upgrade that may override at least one of these issues (especially the can't browse while the car is moving issue), but so far haven't been able to find out anything. Of course the easy and obvious answer that we have adopted is to plug the ipod into the auxillary port instead and operate the ipod manually. This takes away the ability to skip through songs using the steering wheel controls, but is a much better alternative.

We may upgrade the unit at some stage down the track, but if at least one of the two things I mentioned could be fixed then we probably wouldn't bother as it would be a lot of money to spend on just a few functions that we want and a lot of stuff that we don't really need. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions as to how to get around these issues, I'd like to hear from you.

But despite these gripes, we really do love everything else about the car...

Hi Travis,

Welcome to the club.. I'm surprised nobody else has said hi (over 50 people have viewed it)

Can't help with your Audio query (although to be honest I haven't done a thorough Google search)

They are a great car (we had the 2010 for 2 years and now have a 2012 TCH) Enjoy!
