ticking

hi, my hilux makes a ticking sound when the ignition is on and seems to be near the intercooler/turbo, doesnt stop, anybody had something like this?

eng speed or 1/2 eng speed? Running and not? odometer reading? oil type and specs? Tappet or injector? HINT: place screwdriver tip onto obects and listen to the handle end closely--acts as stethescope to trace noise source. Or sloder coathanger wire to base of empty tin can same trick.
