Turbo 20v

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question guys i am sure one of u know.

Does any one know the formular to calculate the thickness of a spacer plate needed to decompress the engine when putting on a turbo,

or

has anyone put one on a 20v 4AGE and how thick was it

It will be runing 8psi boost only

Also does the 20v have the same head gasket as a 16v 4AGE efi

I know i should be putting in forged pistons with lower compression but i dont have that sort of money and i couldnt be stuffed pulling the motor back down again.

Also (sorry)

What is a good aftermarket computer that i can connect on piggyback with the original computer to supply a good map for the turbo

I know motec if really good, but they are really expensive, over priced if u ask me.

I was kinda thinking of haltec or wolf 3d.

If anyone can help me out that would be really great

thanks

I recently got a HKS 2mm head gasket for a 4AGZE and that is now capable of handling up to 18PSI of boost!!!! If this gives u sum idea for the thickness required it was about $250 from Japan!!...... :D

Are you aware that a stock 4age/4agze headgasket can hold 20psi and more?

20V gasket is different to the 16V gasket.

I'd personally not bother taking the head off if you're only going to run low boost, just tune for the boost you plan to run with a full aftermarket ECU, not piggyback.

EMS, Microtech, haltech, autronic, wolf, link are all capable of running it.

There's a stock AE101 20V turbo with TD04L, FMIC and microtech over at twincam.org forums, TRD16 owns and built it. still at 10.5:1 compression too.

Thanks for that info guys.

i found a haltec that would work beautifully

E6X, very cheap for what it can do

spoken to alot of people about the microtec, and i was told that they are only really suited for rotaries and are a bitch to tune. so i will go with the haltec for an extra $350.

hopefully the bottom end of the 20v can handle 8-9 psi with the high compression.

Just another question, Is it better to have equal length single runners to the quad throttle bodies- or a plannem chamber.

thanks
