Hi All,

Just want to get some thoughts/opinions after I had my 2005 Toyota Kluger serviced for its 200K maintenance at a Toyota Dealership.

They are recommending the following to be done:

- transfer case to be resealed

- rack to be overhauled

- rocker cover gaskets to be replaced

- cam and crank seals to be replaced

Total repair cost they estimated is at $5K.

Which of the above should I prioritise? Should I get a second opinion from another repairer? Can the above be done in the next service after 10K km? Or do I need to have these done immediately?

Thanks. :)

$5,000.00?

Five Thousand Dollars?

Have I got that right?

That is a hell of a lot of money.

Does your car leak huge amounts of oil or is there oil in the cooling system?

I would get a second opinion from an independant repairer.

Yeah, helluva lot of money. It doesn't leak that much oil yet. I am trying to get a second opinion. They just quoted that estimate, but I'm not too surprised since it was from a Toyota dealership. A friend recommended an independent mechanic to see if their recommendations are necessary or not. Hope I get a much cheaper quote.
