Whine on startup..
The waterpump hurts to even think about. Did the pump & radiator a year ago in the middle of summer with no shade. The pump makes more of a rattle than a whine. The radiator plastic cracked open along the top right of the front face opposite where the hose connects. My $ is on the alternator. -

Whine on startup..
Any update on this one Dave? I did a 1000km trip on the weekend and noticed a squealing sound coming from the belt area when I pulled over for a rest stop. Seems to disappear when cold as not present at start up. Will remove the belt this week and try to find out if its a pulley. Hoping it's not the water pump. -

Park Brake Adjustment
Located my notes. Looks like it is a 10mm deep socket required for the inside cabin adjustment. On my 40 series Aurion, the parking brake shoe is 1 piece instead of the usual pair of brake shoes. Aurion Foot Parking Brake.doc -

need help with ln107
so I'm just wondering if a kzn 130 or 185 full dash will fit in my 1997 ln107 as I'm doing a 1kz te conversion and would make it easier for wiring loom in cab and engine bay to link up -

Park Brake Adjustment
Tony, have a look at your previous post on 30th December 2020 to refresh your memory. Another rinse and repeat exercise. As I recall, the full procedure for adjusting the foot brake has loosening the foot brake adjustment nut inside the cabin using a 12mm deep socket in the initial stage. 2nd main stage is to adjust the braking shoes located inside the hat of the rear rotor. I found removing the brake caliper made it easier for turning the rotor and feeling when the adjustment was correct so that the parking brake shoes were not close to but not in contact with the rotor hat. I found making adjustment to that toothed wheel was lot easier with the rotor removed. Fair bit of trial and error to get the final adjustment to the parking brake clearance and the rotor spins freely. Last step is to do the foot brake adjustment inside the cabin so there are 6 clicks[minimum] before the parking brake is engaged. Simple test would be to engage the foot brake then go from Park to Reverse and/or Drive. Vehicle ideally should remain relatively stationary. -

RN106 petrol 4wd. universal joints ?
can the ruj2100 unijoint be used in place of the ruj2109 ? the only thing i can see is the grease nipple in the uni cap on the ruj2100 and the other is in the middle . some one told me that they are but i havent been able to confirm. any one help ? -

Has anyone had issues re-installing intake camshaft 5SFE
G'day all, Just thought I'd post the solution to my problem. I had another set of eyes look at my issue (retired mechanic who lives 4 houses down the street), and it also had him stumped after going through removal and install of camshaft. He went home and ended up brain-storming with another mechanic friend (who loves Toyotas), and he said he had seen people install 2 washers under a head bolt and cause this issue. We checked and my son had only used 1 washer, but we found the head of the head bolt stood a few millimeters higher. Once the camshaft journal blocks were torqued down the sprocket came to rest snugly on the head bolt - wow. The new bolts are aftermarket (I have left a review for that product advising of this issue), but I have to stick to a budget, as I am bank-rolling the quick rebuild as it is his first car. So yes everything works as it should now and he can continue to re-assemble it all now. Hope this helps someone else out down the track.- 1

Current Drain
That fault is pretty common on most modern cars to be honest. I watch a youtuber called "Diagnosis Dan" and the amount of parasitic drain videos he's covered is amazing. You can pretty much find which circuit is causing the drain by using an amp meter and go through and probe each circuit until you see the high amperage draw. On Toyotas particularly, you need to put the car to sleep and wait for around 20 mins, then test. You can simulate this by latching the hood with the hood open and latching the doors if you need any of them to be open during the test. Putting the car to sleep is the first most important step before any diagnosis can occur. Glad you were able to find the fault relatively quickly because not too many mechanics could be bothered with in depth electrical gremlins like a parasitic drain.
