Hi,

Got an 80 series landcruiser and nearly due for new tyres.

Currently have BF Goodrich A/T light truck tyres and have done 80,000km

They have been great with no punctures or damage through some fairly rugged tracks.

Negative with the tyres is the extremely rough ride as the sidewalls are so reinforced the don't give.

Anyone using a good set of tyres with a good ride?

Have been recommended the Toyo tyre which apparently is just as strong as the bf Goodrich, but much quieter, smoother ride and better fuel economy also, so I have been told.

also been really recommended the Maxxis tyres, but been told to steer clear of the bridgestones

current tyres are 275/70/16

Any ideas / feedback would be much appreciated

I'm using Bridgestone Dueler D697 and love them. Had a pair or Kumho before and the Bridgestone are much more quiet. Don't know who told you to stay away from Bridgestone. Offroading with the D697 is fine as well.

Thanks, I was told the Bridgestone tyre has poor wear vs bf Goodrich and Toyo tyres and the sidewalls are not of good or equivalent strength. Don't know personally hence me asking others opinions.

Can you tell me if you noticed any improvement or deterioration in fuel economy between your khumo tyres vs your current as each style of tyre will contribute to this with up to a 10% difference

Fuel consumption wasn't that much difference. The sidewall on the D697 are 8 layers so it's not weak at all.

You can go with H/T tyres so save fuel but they offer no offroad ability.
