Hi All,

Have just purchased a second hand 2007 VX Landcruiser 4.7l Petrol. I have owned a 2000 LC100 before but it was manual and a 6 Cylinder.

I would like to get some comments if what is happening is normal please.

If I place the car into Low Range and engage the centre diff lock when I move the automatic into drive the whole car seems to raise about an inch. When shifting back to neutral the car lowers back to normal height and when I shift to reverse the back of the car seems to raise and the front lowers.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

It sounds like the engine torque is engaging the driveline. This sounds like normal behaviour. Have you driven an auto before?

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have driven an auto before. Traded an Auto Hilux for the Landcruiser. I just wanted to check as the height change is quite a lot. Possibly an inch or slightly more.

There is a possibility that some of the driveline mounts could be getting soft due to age; however if it is concerning to you, have a mechanic take a look.
