So my headlights have a weird issue. The high beams work fine as do the day-driving lights and indicators etc - it's just my night-time "low-beam" lights don't work. They flick on briefly when I turn them on but die almost instantly. Sometimes one will work longer intermittently but generally not. We took it to an Auto Electrician who said we will need to change out the whole headlight assembly! That doesnt sound right to me...

Surely I can replace the globe somehow ?

Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be and what I'll have to do?

I've attached a pic indicating which light is not working...

seems like the ballast that powers your globe is on it's way out or the globe itself.

So!

After spending 30mins getting my hands dirty, I worked out how to get the globes out and replaced them. (Didnt even know there was a globe in there!)

All fixed. The one thing that dwarfs my serious lack of mechanical aptitude is the fact that a qualified Auto Electrician had the fkn car for a day and said he couldn't work it out and recommended replacing the whole headlight assembly at a cost of around $850 per headlight. (Which is why I assumed there were no globes)

Either he was trying to rip me off or he should find a new career...

Pretty happy and relieved though. $70 and Im all fixed. Thought I was gonna have to sell a guitar there for a minute ;-)

Thanks Flipsta24 for your input - You were spot on ...
