Can anyone recommend good roof racks for 2003 Tarago/Estima? How do they attach?

Thanks
Pete

I bought Thule racks over a decade ago.  Fitted well and never caused a problem.  Front rack clips onto lugs inside the middle side door and between the window glass and body on the driver side.  Rear rack clips onto lugs hidden between the rear windows and body.  I purchased specially made (for Tarago) long "legs" that enable the racks to clear the roof easily.  Go to a specialist dealer only!

Racks fit differently on the second generation Tarago/Estima  as compared to the first. Open your side door and at roofline you'll see two plastic plugs. Under those there are threaded holes. Same for the other side. You may need to speak to a specialist to see what fits the best (may even try suprercheap or autobarn or such beforehand). Another option is to source original roof rails from an Aussie Tarago. It should be possible to find them at wreckers. A bitch to fit as the roof liner has to come out but once done you'll have the factory look. I'm thinking of doing this when time and funds allow. Seems most Jap import Estimas come without roof rails, yet Taragos often have them.

Oops, sorry about my post - I got the decade wrong.  I keep thinking my 1993 model is a 2003!

Ended up going with Rhino roof rails & sportz bar, as it gives me more length to put larger objects on. Inbuilt holes are only about 60cm wide, which is OK for small loads, but who has that with lots of kids :-). With installation, cost me $500 for a second hand system from Roof Rack City http://www.roofrackcity.com.au/locations/nsw/castle-hill.
