Hi

A few weeks ago, I replaced my alternator, so far its ok but when I turn the key to on position, the battery light flashes 40 times and then goes solid for a few seconds before starting the 40 flashes again. Multi meter says the battery is around 13.8 or 14 when the car is started and once the car is started the light goes off. Any idea why my light could b flashing? I took the alternator back to the guy who I got it off and he said it produced 14v on a bench test and changed the voltage regulator to be safe. Does anyone hace any ideas?

Has this only happened since the new alternator was installed?
