How good are the 7th gen auto boxes?

I know a heap of people don't like them but i want to know exactly why.  Is the Lift useless in the auto,  Is the rev range compromised and are they reliable if  occasionally driven hard?

 Also did they really use the same box as a corona? waaaah.SEE below wiki info i found.
