Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone can identify the sensor in the photos. Its directly behind the steering wheel.

Reason i ask is my car developed a scrubbing sound in the steering wheel when turning. Didn't think much of it and neither did my mechanic who just assumed it was a part of the plastic shroud rubbing.

Opened it up today and found that the gold pin sensor is rubbing against the gold ring on the steering wheel. The pin is spring loaded and connected to a green wire. You can probably sort of see the gold dust everywhere as a result of the scrubbing...

Thanks in advance!

Vehicle is an '04 Hilux SR KZN165r

Mike.

That's your horn pin, it grounds against a ring on the back side of the steering wheel.  A tiny bit of conductive grease or something on there should stop the squeaking.
