Hey everyone,

My partner has a 2008 Toyota Yaris manual sedan and has an issue with excessive idle speed on startup. It idles at 2200rpm on cold startup and comes back down after about 90 seconds. I have heard that the Corolla and Yaris models do have issues with the intake manifold gasket screwing up and allowing excess air into the intake chamber causing high idle. However, when the brake pedal is depressed, there is a noticeable hissing sound coming from behind the battery and next to the engine block. I don't know what is causing this but when I use force to pump the brake, the car wants to stall.

Does anyone on here have any idea what could be going on?  I'm a holden guy myself so don't know much about Toyotas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
