What did you end up doing?

Sticking with a 3L would make sense from a low fuss perspective.

The 3L naturally aspirated gets rather asthmatic gong up hills from my recollection when I had one years ago. If you could afford the extra $, putting in a sensibly boosted turbo would be worth consideration for a bit of extra zing / towing capability.

Hello guys, I own a Toyota Hilux 2012, 3.0L diesel-powered engine, 126KW. I have a problem with the transmission. I have to fight with the car to change the gear, to be exact. I've seen a mechanic, an old friend of my dad, but he said he couldn't see anything uncommon. Any idea what it might be?
