corona st141

Recommended Posts

Guys im new to this board and am into 4x4 im competing in WA in a suzuki sieara that has been modified with hilux diffs twin lockers and 38 inch tyres coil suspension with triangulated four links in the front and rear .Looking to run a new engine and gearbox and have been told to find a corona st141 as we want a 4cylinder motor out of a rear wheel drive car that runs injection must be manual.

What are your thoughts about this car how much power dose it produce as it will be left stock for better reliability how much would i pay for a donor vehicle. We are looking for some low down torque but good of the mark sped to spin the tyres as we are running lower transfer case gears and 5.29 hiace centers our first low range comes out at 100 to 1 .

If there are any other motor gearbox combos could you please let me no conversion must be as cheap and easy as possible with ease of parts to get hold of .May use a front wheel drive motor as long as we can bolt it to a rear wheel drive manual box .This set up dosent have to come out of a 4x4 as with a zuk the trans case is seperate and runs a small drive shaft to it from the gearbox

Thanks

Although the 4AGE is a good engine I don't think it suits the intended application since it is lacking in low range torque. The engine you are looking for is the 22RE, you could probably pick up a whole car in decent condition for less than $1,500

The first fuel injected 22R-E engines appeared in 1983. Output of these engines is commonly rated at 105 hp (78 kW) at 4800 rpm and 137 ft·lbf (185 N·m) at 2800 rpm. In 1985, the engine was significantly reworked, output was up to 112 hp (84 kW) at 4600 rpm and 142 ft·lbf (192 N·m) at 3400 rpm.

There was even a turbo version made  Check out Toysport for some technical details.

Yeah as far as I know all Australian delivered Coronas were RWD, at least up until '86 or so. Check out Ebay or the Trading Post for some bargains but it looks like most of them are in NSW.
