gday guys,

my 03 corolla hatch seems to be getting alot of rust in the centre of alll 4 brake rotors.the car is fitted with alloy wheels and rotors are more exposed then if it had stock rims and caps.does anyone know of a place in melbourne that can fix rusty rotors or where in melbourne i can buy rotors that are rust proof in centre and around edges.

all the best,

Surface rust is fine. When it begins to flake, you have a problem.

But if you dont want the rust, you could fit some custom carbon brakes

you could also apply some kill rust to the effected area, then clean and paint the exposed surfaces.

I've seen it done and it looks pretty effective.

just be careful with the kill rust to only get it on the rusted area though and it will destroy your paint work if you get it on there.

u mean rust on the rotor hats?

just wait till next time u get ur brakes machined... ask the mechanic to go over the hats with a file (while they're spinning on the machine) to get rid of the rust... once thats done give 'em a spray or some rust-proofer or maybe even VHT rotor paint... leave to dry

the coating will stop the hat rusting again, but only works if u get all the rust off

or u could wait till u get a new set of rotors, and paint them up as above?
