Hey all,

My dad has a 1997 Camry 2.2 Auto. He bought it new and it lived in his garage its whole life. It has 104k on the clock.

Recently he stuffed it in a car park.... you know how oldies love to hit the accelerator instead of the brake? yeah. So unfortunately he hit the rear corner panel hard and repairers say its a writeoff.

So the rest of the car has great condition parts all over it plus a low mileage motor and trans.

Not sure what to do, how much it's worth. etc. Could I sell the motor etc? Where would I sell it?

ok any advice appreciated

Francis

You could try selling parts if you're competent enough to strip it and then spend months etc hanging on to random piles of crap and haggling with numpties on Facebook marketplace, or just sell the thing whole to a scrapyard.  The low-ks will only have any kind of value to the drivetrain and maybe the interior (if it is in as good condition as the ks would indicate), unfortunately it's still a mid/late 90s Camry which were sold by the bucketload so they aren't worth much - complete running cars with no damage are a couple of grand, and they're in no way collectable or desirable except for manual V6s.

Yeah he could make $50k off parts seeing how much they ask for! But yeah not keen on a pile of parts hanging around for years. He said a wrecker offered $250-300. Prob as good as it gets.
