Hi friends,

My Aurion is used in a security role on various government sites.

I have upcoming work where I will be escorting vehicles on a large site.

I can't go into great detail but I need the high mounted stop light to flash before going solid when I apply the brakes.

It is easy to splice a strobe module into the circuit but when I leave the site it will be illegal on public roads.

I could switch the active off but of course the high mounted brake light won't illuminate.

I know it's a weird question but is there any way to bypass the strobe module when I'm on public roads so that the high mounted brake light illuminates normally?

I'll need a diagram 😂

Hi,

Here is a simple way to do what you need, using a double pole double throw switch.

That's absolutely awesome Herb!

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! 😊

can't  see this is an issue for being illegal on road. I have had this module fitted to my Camry since 2014 . I researched several roadworthy work shops and all agreed they would pass the car for roadworthy when fitted. Many times I have had highway patrol behind me when braking  and never once had an issue with the police.

That's interesting 🤔

I did some basic research which indicated that a flashing brake light is illegal throughout Australia.

Exceptions are adaptive brake lights fitted to some expensive imports which flash brake and hazard lights under extreme deceleration and/or braking.

Happy to be corrected. 😊

Ask your local workshops who inspect for rego. The strobe  effect goes through fast, medium then slow and finishes with the brake light going solid on. Mine is operating on my boot spoiler led brake light. The idea is catch the attention and alert the driver behind you are braking.

For better or worse we don't have inspections for registration in SA.

I'm also installing on the spoiler brake light and I totally agree that it is much more likely to catch the attention of the following driver.

No annual inspections in Victoria  but when a vehicle changes ownership a roadworthy inspection is required. These work shops work under Vicroads jurisdiction to ensure an unregistered car or a  car changing owners is safe to be on the road. That is why I sought the opinions from several workshops re being legal before I fitted the strobe brake device.
