Hello guys. My 2011 Fortuner D4D auto 80 000 km is misbehaving. It dies randomly. This could happen at 2 week intervals or 10 minutes. When this happens the engines will crank strong but not start. When it dies it show an engine light and AT oil temp light - flashing. At times the engine stays solid. When it runs - all dash board lights are out. Battery tests strong. I checked for the obvious - loose grounding wire, fuel pressure and had the ECM “tested”. Mind you I am in Panama so the tester’s credentials are dubious. Many believe the ECM to be fine. Any words of wisdom would be digested.

It's hard to say from where we're standing, but I would have the ECU scanned with a proper scanner to see what error codes are stored that could possibly shed some light on what's happening. Until then it's all a guessing game as these modern cars are all computer driven with sensors everywhere.
