Hello just want some clarification.

The preface lift 1ZZE's pulls out 100kW power where as the facelift 1ZZE's has 93kW.

From that:

1. Does that mean my preface lift 1ZZE is faster and thus will smash the facelift 1ZZE?

And

2. Why did toyota pull back the kW to 93 on the facelift models? (Save on materials? Regulation?)

regulations... Euro IV emmision standards came in, making the the rolla go from cable throttle to drive by wire electric throttle and other changes made the rolla detune

basically i doubt u can feel a difference at all, that 7kw at the fly so not much at all at the wheels, and btw toyota only claim 100/93kw u never really know how much your car has without testing it. can be very different between 2 identical rollas.

My facelift still has the 100kw engine. Only the facelifts built from October 2005 onwards had the 93kw engines. They were detuned from 100kW to 93kW to meet the new emission standards and regulations (Euro IV).

Its not all facelifts so don't go drag every facelift u see at sets of lights its just October 2005 and later produced vehicles (facelifts started production sometime in 2004 if my memory serves me right)

From the 1/4 mile times done by our members there doesent seem to be too much difference between the original and detuned 1ZZ's.

So looking at Corzza's (like me he has the "detuned" engine) he did a very good time.

Some might say Toyota deduned the engine. I say they made it more efficient. :P

So if you do see a facelifted Rolla at the lights you might just get left behind ;)
