Stivo Brakes

Recommended Posts

Depends on the Car. On a Corolla which can weigh between 1100 and 1250 depending on what model and options you have, It's not a heavy car and wouldn't require slotted and cross drilled rotors even in a track application. Slotted would be more than sufficient.

On a bigger heavier car then you would go for cross drilled as well. Heavier car puts more stress and heat on the brakes.

The primary reason for slots or cross drilled rotors is not to ventilate the rotor but the pads. When your brakes "fade" after heavy use and the car doesn't pull up as quick even though you're pressing hard on the brakes, it's because there is a pocket of super hot gas in between the rotor and pad. The drilled holes or slots allow this gas to escape and therefore allow greater contact between pad and rotor and better braking. It's also for this reason that track cars have cooling ducts directed at the calipers.
