I didn't need to add Lift to my current car. It already had 13b Turbo goodness and perfect 50:50 weight distribution.

You CAN'T add lift anyway because you don't have cams :P

can you add lift to a 1zz corolla.......yes u can, all depends on what you mean by lift? if your talking about a high duration camchaft which is what lift is then yes, if your talking about VVTI-L......... then no. you'd be an idiot to add a high duration racing camchaft to your daily driver any way, thats what makes the VVTI-L system so genius.

lets say you put that racing camchaft in, and all the hardwear to go with it, rods, springs aftermarket tacho, 2zz gearbox(been told they fit),computer etc etc, youd still find it hard to keep up with a 2zz ;)

Pointless on a 1ZZ head as it won't flow anywhere near enough air to produce worthwhile power above the normal range. Lift is valve lift, not cam duration - the two don't always go hand in hand either.

your correct in saying lift is valve lift not cam duration, but higher cam duration accompanies longer valve lift, where this does not apply is when you start to play around with camshaft lobes.

in regards to the 1zz's flow rate ive been told many different things, but am yet to see any hard evidence for or against.

counterfeit parts have been around for a very long time especially exterior panels, all i can say is if you love your car stay away from these chinese parts.

when i was in the spraypainting trade we used to use alot of these panels, they were so weak, the sheet metal they used dident even meet australian standards it was so fin, if you tried to sand it it would just worp and the edges were like razer blades, but we had to use them because the insurance companies left us no choice due to the cut throat nature of the industrie.

the sad thing is the owners dont even know that when they get there car back its now ''made in china''

That technically makes a 4 star safety rating car down to 1 or less ....

Not to mention that the insurance PDS (or whatever the F its call) states that they will use original parts unless those parts are no longer available for purchase from the manufacterer (because the car model has been superseeded) then only they will use the highest quality after market parts or similar.

thats right guni, though the insurance companies turn a blind eye on these parts due to us making them money, the cheaper we repair the vehicle the more money they make.

in regards to useing geniune parts that only applies to cars that are less then 5 years old, after that they can use what ever the hell they want.

and trust me every single part you can think of for a toyota, you can be sure the chinese make it (excludes engine hardwear)

hey guys i got another stupid Q for you guys,,

i did a search and all i could find was how to fit them..

my Q is,, do i really need a oil catch can?? i have a 1zz with almost 90,000km,, and i track the car about 3 times a year..

and whats the difference with the catch cans with the mini filters and no mini filters..

i'v been told that its recomended if i like to track my car abit..

a catch can wouldnt hurt on your 1zz, i have one on my 1zz, if u want to have a look at my members thread on how i installed mine. all cars can benefit from a catchcan setup and the more time u spend in the high rpm range the more your engine will thankyou for installing one. the way a catch can works is the the gases traveling out of your pcv valve (out of your camcover)are directed into the can and are run thru a series of baffles (to remove the oil from the air) before being directed back to the manifold or out a small filter, some engines like the LS1 really need catch can setups due to poor rockercover design that have poor baffleing, not only vapour gets out but you also get alot of oil splashback directly into your manifold, so baffleing is very important in controling oil vapour
