  1. hi there, just wondering what a clutch adjustment involves on a 2003 corolla, is this something we can do or a mechanic ? how much would it cost? how do i know if its already been done. thanks!!
  2. Have a look at redbook - by searching for redbook in google, it can give you estimate values 2003 models at dealers are selling for 17-18ish -absolute joke. who would seriously pay that much ? some private sales are aking close to 20k for a 2005- again too much! i woudnt part with my 2003 for less than 14.5 i think you'l find the car will take some time to sell if you are after good money, but i may be wrong!
  3. oh crap, i got heeeps of stone chips, maybe using touchup paint will help protect moisture from getting in and around and making them worse in the long term!
  4. keep your trim, i dont know the state of the window bracket and internals so you may be able to re use them also. but im 99% certain that the door skin (outer) is the same
  5. i seee.. man forget about fiberglassing, too much work like you said. i personally like the really fine mesh that looks a bit like a security door on a house.. haha. im sure you can find that stuff somewhere. GL with it
  6. what are you trying to do here? cover the existing grill with mesh ? remove the middle section of the grill ? i wouldnt thing that type of mesh would be that hard to find! - i see alot of rollas with the front grill replaced with a mesh one, not sure if they buy them like that. ?
  7. and after reading what i just wrote...i realise i dont have a rear wheel drive car.. oops
  8. for those in melbourne, a place called head 2 head in oakleigh does ported headers fitted for ~$300 google it. yer yer its not gona give me 3.65333Kw at the rear wheels with a head wind of +7kmph on a cool 20 degrees day with bp premium and 95% tread on my pirelli's - but i dont give a stuff. just want that low down power gain :):) and free flowing revs
  9. have a stock 03stivo. i want to get ported headers reason :cheap bang for buck - gives more low down response, a more free revving engine. is this true? how will it go if this is my one and only mod ?
  10. Hi, I own a 03 corolla it has 70k on the clock which im quite happy with i just started travelling 650 K's a week. So it looks like il clock up 30,000 a year! when does a corolla engine start to deteriate? 150, 170 ?
  11. I think you should do it! a friend of mine was also a tool and he did it. he said it was fun.
  12. using 1998 Toyota Corolla CSi Seca AE101R as an example * Private Price Guide $4,900 - $6,600 * Trade In Price Guide $3,000 - $4,700 * Average Km 165,000 - 275,000 is what the car is worth (check out redbook.com.au for the exact model prices) i had a car which was a repairable write off. hit on the front though, they are not quite the same anymore... really depends on the type of damage and the quality of repair. im going to have a stab and say, take of at least 25% of the market value for a repairable write-off - if you want to go down that path
  13. I would take into consideration the fact that you are coming out of a 34. driving an ascent will be quite painful. petrol wise the ascent and sportivo are not very far apart. and atleast if you want to do a bit of spirited driving, the sportivo will allow that. keep your eyes peeled for a sportivo selling privatly, and then go offer the guy 12-13k for an 03 model. and you will be suprised at their willingness to accept the offer. my theory is that the sportivo is not a out and out sports car, so it competes in the hot hatch market with integras and turbos which in terms of performance.. lets face it... are quicker than the sportivo. the sportivo is not quite a family run about either (the ascent is) its revvy, touchy and not so appealing to the older 'family' market.. they are a difficult car to sell for these reasons, and therefore YOU CAN get a great discount price. not alot of people want them imo. (add on top of this the fact that the auto market is flogging new cars cheaper than normal at the moment) dont buy from a dealer. youl pay the full 16-17k. thats bs. just get the stivo and hunt for a cheap one privatly. you might regret getting the ascent. ps. the leather, sunroof, climate combination is awsome :) gl
  14. yer i would say its more like 3200 at 100kmph the celica has a taller 6th it does rev quite alot you should get 650k's out of the 55 litre tank (with 2 lites left) i do alot of fwy driving
  15. fully sick bro, im gona take it to toyota they can fix the **** and it will be fully sick!
  16. I believe the original claim about the Corolla having so many issues is very much exaggerated. the car is not a lemon. every car has problems. this car is above average in terms of reliability and performance.
  17. Hi, I have been reading here and there and heard from a few people here and there that there was a recall for the 03 sportivo ? i have done alot of dang research and cannot find anything in black and white about this issue .. does anyone know about a recall for the 03 and what it included? cheers, apologies for my lazyness
  18. Iv already removed it, but seriously would i pay 500$ for a tiny bit more power gain ? its crappy ay. the trd cai is $550
  19. hi, a wise man on here once said, removing a snorkel from a airbox (03 corolla) would give me up to 70% of the gain a CAI would provide. so would i pay $500 for a CAI -- OR remove a snorkel which gives me 70% the advantage anyway? what ya reckon ?
  20. thats some pricy stuff!! im looking at the trd short shifter... $350 does anyone know where i could get this cheaper? ebay doesnt seem to have them. definatly getting one! wo! (dont mean to hijak your thread) and ****, they are selling the trs cai for 550 ? i swear they are cheaper than that!
  21. hey guys just after your opinion on getting more mileage out of my sportivo that does freeway K's currently i get 650 out of a tank, with 90% freeway driving. when doing 100kph the revs are at 3.2K which i dont think is very efficient..? iv heard the celecia has a taller 6th designed for freeways, but have also heard this with cost $700ish just to change the 6th gear.. would a CAI give better economy on freeway driving ? what else could i do to squeeze a few more K's out of the tank ? (currently have 17's with low profiles, completely stock otherwise)
  22. mate as far as performance mods go, if you want bang for buck consider, exhaust, cai and ported headers. the 3 work together as a good combination. lets face it. you will never ever ever make your corolla real wheel drive, if you do your an idiot, buy a supra or something ffs. finally, if you want to rice it up, consider front grills, eyelids and lowering. thats some bang for buck stuff. ooh... short shifters are pretty cool and well rated among users. if i had the cash thats everything i would look at cheers and happy front wheel driving
