  1. not an issue in a new one, but we have a 5 speed box, with a manual selector if needed Why settle for a second best - get a new model for bit more with similar Km, with better accommodation, engine and economy. or stick with a new x trail - but a diesel - nice drive with excellent engine and 6 speed man box
  2. and how about another dream - lets us pay the prices they are paying in North Am
  3. loooooosen your right foot even my wife who does short trips only around the ACT (less dense air with less oxygen), one in early morning cold, is getting respectable 13.5 - 14.5. :o and keep it under 3.2K revs for most gear changes (in S) unless you strive for pure brute pleasure it also helps to use engine for braking (in S) slowing progressively to stops/lights
  4. well, based on that simple condition, it will probably never happen here - Japs have been in a financial/credit meltdown for the last 20 or so years and the global one is unlikely to be any shorter or less severe more credit will never overcome too much debt so unless the debt is written off/forgiven, we are in for a long ride to nowhere :( at least we have nice cars to enjoy
  5. and the review is here: http://www.macworld.com/article/51583/2006...li.html/reviews soon, there may be another one or more (see review)
  6. TOP DEAL! Only in Nov, higher prices were asked for 07 X-Ses with 20-40 K km. Don't like black interior.
  7. a local Toyota monopolist wants $105 for this pleasure , i.e. 1h charge for an IT technician. how was it done by others?
  8. no gamble these days, up and up they will go - inflation (hyper) is a strong possibility, if they keep on pumping up money not for houses or stocks - down they go
  9. oh yes, it would be nice to know the difference it makes one thing though, the factory warranty may be void??? Although it can be removed before going for a service Interestingly, when u visit service/parts dept have a look at the little announcement by factory about TRD parts. Apparently, these are only suitable for racing and do not carry factory warranty and and may void factory warranty. <_<
  10. Previously discussed ways to get more out of the super V6 include free cold air intakes. Here are links to a few items that might do it, assuming same fit as for Aurion. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem= http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem= or these with factory-like fit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem= http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem= or this one for the old model http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem= In some cases the postage can be more than the part, unless free-posted to the US/Canada friend who then sends normal post or delivers personally.
  11. These numbers are even more telling: The old kluger and just superseded lexus RX350 are brothers. But the new kluger was developed new, and now the fresh RX350 is finally catching up, poorly that is :) Kluger 2006 Lexus RX 350 2006 Kluger 2008 Lexus RX 350 2009 Aurion 2008 Exterior Length 4690mm 4740mm 4785mm 4770mm 4825mm Exterior Width 1825mm 1845mm 1910mm 1885mm 1820mm Exterior Height 1680mm 1720mm 1760mm 1720mm 1470mm Front Track 1575mm 1580mm 1630mm 1630mm 1575mm Rear Track 1555mm 1570mm 1640mm 1620mm 1565mm Wheel Base 2715mm 2715mm 2790mm 2740mm 2755mm
  12. well, it looks as if some people are in a panic to buy a car before the prices really go up (i.e., new Lexus RX) this was the advice given by some motoring writers late last year so buying new appears to be the way to go if 2008 stock is around. Not the case if LCDs or other electronics are on the menu - ALL UP by ca 20%, compared November/December prices
  13. In a POLO I used to have until I got Yaris (a much better car although amazingly it lost the first gear after just 4K km), the tilt function worked well because the roof cover had vents. Why Toyota considers them not necessary is a puzzle <_<
  14. At Fowles car auction today in Sydney, 5/2008 Kluger K-R 4wd with 22K km sold for between 38 and 39 K!!! (they will not give an exact price) Add to it an auction fee, transfer duty and rego and its almost as much as one can get one new from a dealer!!! some people just do not do their homework it had a bull bar but no tow! In December, the 2007 K-S 4wd (with bull & tow) with 17K km sold for 37K - a better buy
  15. not quite the same but very similar 5 cm difference in the wheel base! as do the hatchback (not a wagon) and part-time 4wd in a new model - just like in RAV4 Dimensions RX350 Overall length (mm) 4770 Overall width (mm) 1885 Overall height (mm) 1720 Wheelbase (mm) 2740 Curb weight (kg) 1975 Kluger Exterior Length 4785 Exterior Width 1910 Exterior Height 1760 Wheel Base 2790 Kerb Weight 2035 RAV4 V6 Exterior Length 4600 Exterior Width 1815 Exterior Height 1695 Wheel Base 2660 Kerb Weight 1655
  16. I always buy my oil (and filters, if not serviced at dealer - which is most of the time) and make sure that I get the rest back. For kluger it is problem if you buy 6 L since that is how much it will take. But you can get two 5 L containers and then a single one for the next 4 changes. Toyota charges $10/L for their (probably Castrol or other branded oil) stock mineral 10-30 oil, for which you can get a good synthetic - so why would you pay that ??? At Big W, Mobil 1 5-50 is $60 which is well below the price all auto shops charge. Shell 5-40 is even cheaper.
  17. would a reasonable person consider this one as an alternative to Kluger Grande 4wd? http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleD...=60988&vf=2 It looks as if they stuck a straw in IS250 ***** and blown it up still has useless rear cargo but gets 6 spd Aurion box and what about the price??? but the biggest let down is this: "Drive is through a new four-wheel-drive system, which effectively relegates the car to front-drive in regular driving, engaging the rear wheels when required. For slippery conditions it can be locked in 4WD at less than 40km/h." so its is a RAV4 for double the price, at best!!!
  18. OK, I checked again in my local SCA, and Mobil 0-40 is in fact $93, way more when I looked last time and considered Castrol 0-40 to be expensive at $70 (I guess not anymore). They either had it in a wrong spot on a shelve or... Nulon 10-40 or 5-40, are the cheapest synthetics, and can be bough in 6 L pack. Fuchs is gone.... Shell 5-40 is about $60/5L but try Big W for a far better price. Mobil 1 (5-50) is $70, but it may be a good choice for central Oz, where temp stays 40+ for long time, and in winter in can get below 0 in the mornings.
  19. i have seen 0-40 Mobil for $60 at SCA - probably on special Mobil 1 is about $90 normally

    boost up

Hmmm, similar arguments and conspiracy labels are commonly used to discredit those who dare to question, for instance the hydrogen generation from water - which even though it works, if implemented in many cars would destroy fuel cartels and thus the world we know. Instead we are offered moronic ethanol in petrol which not just robs performance and economy, it makes no sense economically and environmentally (guess who supports it), except for few who cash in We have plentiful natural gas yet have you seen a single station which would sell it. Ooops, one could get it tax free from the meter at home. Clearly, some of these gizmos must offer some benefit, if not two at the same time?

    boost up

I found few gizmos that claim to add extra power and improve economy (both at the same time ???) - any one game to try these in the past. http://stores.ebay.com/Tuningperformance-factory http://stores.shop.ebay.com/performance-ch...e__W0QQ_armrsZ1 I tried neodymium magnets - no gain, but my old Camry Touring fitted with an infra-red rubber on the fuel line and the swirl in the air intake improved in acceleration (marginally) and in long-trip economy (around 7/100 km down to Sydney) but not around the house.
  22. Well, as I have indicated previously - I would be happy to part with my almost new spare B, so one can match it with their spare for a nice pair, instead of paying a full price.
  23. Yep, buy it on ebay but in US. Try here: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/thetrdshop_Yar...634Q2ec0Q2em322
  24. Indeed! Where my cars mostly drive, it normally gets down to -5 and sometimes even less (-10). And I go to the snow too! I have been using synthetics for long, long time with 2 cars doing over 200K and not a smoke or bad sound from the engine. My choice was a Dutch brand with 10 (now 5) -40, and recently a German brand, with 5-40. But Mobil 0-40 appears to be a more advanced product (really synthetic?) and extra protection at the start up will be good. I agree with Rice that 30 is rather low for hot OZ weather in terms of viscosity. I would use 5-40 Mobil, but it is semi only (now in my new Yaris for up to 10K) so 0-40 it will be. castrol 0-40 is $70 - a bit rich! Nulon I bough for around $65 for 6 L - good value (possibly on special). Mobil is $60 for 5L, but I can use 3.5L for a small engine so for $120 I'll have 2 cars done - not bad
