  1. G'day all. :) Got a quick question for you all.

I've come across an opportunity to pick up a near complete interior from a SV40 Aurion Sportivo and really all i'm interested in is the seats (guessing door cards won't fit because the door sizes are different etc between the CV30 and SV40 specifically).

So I'm wondering if anyone has any insight as to whether the Aurions leather electric seats would be direct bolt-in on the Camry Sportivo's floor?

The back seat would be a whole different story I'd believe potentially, but if it works so much the better!

I swear I've seen photos around here many many moons ago of someone who had done this but I for the life of me cannot remember.

If there's any information that anyone can help swing by my way it'd be greatly appreciated! Just want to cover bases before I make the long trek to go get the parts and have it not work that's all. :)

    Cheers!

  2. G'day everyone! Never thought after many years I'd be back behind the wheel of a Toyota but what do you know it's all come full circle.

After having a gold 2007 Aurion Sportivo ZR6 for a few years. Old Members Ride Here! I said farewell to the TOCAU community and since then I'd gone down the european path with a Mk5 Golf GTI, then down the Subaru owners path with a 2005 Liberty Sedan and now since all those cars became money pits. I'm back to good 'ol reliable town with a 2005 Camry Sportivo MCV36R! It's good to be back behind the wheel of a Toyota once more! :D

    Bought in March 2018.

    Toyota Camry Sportivo V6 MCV36R
    Approx 224,000km on the clock.
    5spd Manual Transmission.
Completely bone stock (this is something I would like to change a bit. Maybe just give the car a bit of a more meaty sound with the exhaust. Nothing too major.) except the radio which it came with a Kenwood Single DIN but I've since installed a full Android Double DIN based unit in it. (I can't live without my GPS. I'm horrible like that!)

Definitely gonna get myself more active on here again back like the old days! I also realised I only have the one photo of it so far. So i'll fix that in the coming days. But for now. Have a backside shot. :P

  3. HAHA yes get the ECU remap and tax time. I had a half seriously looked at Golf R last year and they was doing the remap cheaper around tax time and that was for the 240kw upgrade. Yeah good effort DSG is the way to go especially since you have that pesky 60k service out of the way. Enjoy mate.

I think you read wrong, or I wrote it wrong. It's almost due for said service, silly me didn't pick up on it at the time. It's not an issue as I expected high servicing costs. (I know the 60k is especially high due to the DSG service)

So that will be all good and get done soon, then tax time will come and we'll be looking at some stuff I reckon. :)

Congrats on the new car, better start saving for services and parts ;) awesome car, love a hot hatch....

Any pics of it yet ?

I do have some photos. I'll put one up here now just to show since I don't have much time right now. So here's one.

  4. Where is the $8,000 to $10,000 estimation mark coming from? Is that because of the gearbox?

I am interested to see what makes up the bill for the car that has 130000KM..

because everyone of us might need to be ready for that bill

Basically it was the gearbox, my car while it was serviced and maintained regularly. It was driven pretty hard, pretty much every day it would get a full run on a mountain road near my place on the way home from work. Suspension, Steering, Drive-train, Gearbox all got a workout. While the dealership I always got the car serviced at said it was in great condition for what it did (a mate worked at this dealership so he knew the cars history), it was just bad luck for the gearbox to go when it did. Another member on TOCAU had a similar issue where he was quoted an exuberant amount of money to have his gearbox pretty much replaced. It's the same case with this car, while it was changing gears okay, it would slip often from 3rd to 4th, or 2nd to 3rd, depending on what the engine was doing at the time. So I can't say it won't happen to anyone else, but I can say the cars history may of had something to do with it.

  5. Oh wow! I had no idea anyone actually responded. (I wish there was an option to receive notifications when people reply to the thread by default instead of having to manually set it for each thread you post on. Strange!)

Sad to see Tash's twin (in Aurion form) go.

Yeah Trent it's a bit of a sad story in regards to that. I think that was a real common ground to how Tash and I became mates too haha. :P (Not only that but yeah, they were called the Gold Cousins after all. heh.)

Farewell for now Nathan. I'm sure the GTI will keep you happy. A wise move one way or another. Was a pleasure knowing you on the forums here, since you were one of the earlier members I interacted with when I first joined.

Don't worry Daryl, I ain't going anywhere. I'll be sticking around for the most part, then again I haven't been hanging around much anyway. Too much life stuff getting in the way haha.

    All the best Nathan :)

Thanks mate. :) I'll still be here so don't worry.

dont go... stick around like a bad smell like me. :P haha

congrats on the new car... needs exhaust, intake, tune asap! :P

Haha thanks mate. I ain't going anywhere anyway so all good. :)

It's sad to part with another Aurion, with a unique colour too. Hopefully the the Mk5 will give you the excitement like the Aurion. Very unfortunate with the state she's in.

Yeah when I took it in for the trade. The VW Dealership also owns the Toyota Dealership down the road. (Frankston VIC) and they were quite surprised to see an Aurora Gold come in for a valuation.

The Mk5 is quite awesome I must say. I am really enjoying it.

Sad to see another Aurion leaving but all for understanding reasons. Has Toyota seen the car by any chance? They actually love to see cars like yours to see why things have failed and why at once, if they don’t know then they can’t fix and amend for the next generation or update :)

However, a quick visit to your local APR dealer and a remus exhaust will soon have that GTi on hell of a weapon. were also a VW dealer and the GTi's, R and Sirocco just make me laugh an bring a smile every time I drive one so i know your going to love it in no time. Be sure to keep us up to speed with updates! Did you get the manual or DSG?

Yeah it was a sad day as I've said earlier. Toyota did see the car and they are aware of what needs doing to it as it was traded to a Toyota Dealership actually, they rang me back a few days after I took delivery of the GTI and told me while it had done quite a few kms, they couldn't immediately find any issues. Kinda surprised actually that they'd let me know but I guess they just thought i'd like to know haha.

I'll admit I have looked at APR's site and took note of the cost of the ECU tune haha. Tax time possibly. :P To be honest in terms of performance i'd say the GTI on a sub 30 degree day is on par with the Aurion. But if it's a cooler day, the GTI would start to pick up over it. :) Turbos don't like that heat. Also I got the DSG, just in time for the uber expensive 60,000km service too! Hooray. <_< >_> Hoo boy. :P All good though, I got that sorted.

    -------------

Thanks for the words of support though guys, there was a couple of people who weren't particularly pleased about my purchase but I won't name names. But it seems the general consensus is good. :D You never know, it may go to the Annual. :P

  6. This probably isn't in the right place but eh. :P

Hey guys and girls. I know I haven't been on here much in the past year or so but a lot has gone on, anyway that's beside the point. I'm sure some of you remember me. :P

On Tuesday I said goodbye to my Aurora Gold Aurion Sportivo ZR6. At 130,000kms, the Aurion began to show multiple signs of wear, things started to go wrong fairly quickly at the same time. Driveshaft boots went, intermediate shaft spline worn, the gearbox decided it didn't like me much either.

It was a great car and i'll never forget all the fun it gave me, all the TOCAU cruises I went on and especially the first cruise I ever went on. The 2009 TOCAU Annual Meet in Melbourne was the Aurion's first real cruise and I had an absolute blast.

Anyway back to the problems, I got a quote to have everything fixed and to have the Aurion bought back to it's original glory, let's just say it was somewhere in the sub $8,000 to $10,000 mark. I simply couldn't afford to do that and I didn't want to run the Aurion into the ground. It didn't deserve it. Why everything decided to go so suddenly, I wouldn't know. It was serviced regularly and maintained pretty well. So I don't know. :( Since it didn't deserve to be left without repair. I opted for the next best thing for it.

Last Tuesday I traded it in for a 2008 Volkswagen Golf Mk5 GTI 5 Door. With mixed responses from people it was expected to be asked, "Why didn't you go for a Toyota again?" or "Why didn't you wait for the new 86?"

Simply, it was a matter of me wanting to change. I felt like something different. I also couldn't wait, I didn't want the Aurion to get to a worse point that it was already. If the 86 was out now, I may have considered it, but it wasn't...

Anyhow i'll still be around guys. I just won't be rolling in a Toyota anymore... Unless I take my Dad's Gen6 Altise on cruises. :P

    Please don't hate me. :P

  7. Lots of good spots here :) Nothing exciting in Bendigo, few nice Camry's/Corolla's getting around, just clean examples. Haven't seen anything too exciting. Have been down in Melbourne a couple of times recently, was at Highpoint on Saturday but didn't spot anyone :(

I went the Phillip Island recently and spotted a nice Blue Levin SX. :P Didn't get any photos though! Pretty much followed it the entire way to Phillip Island. ;)

  8. I've been sitting here for 10 minutes now comparing three photos. The 'photoshop', the photo from page 15 of when you got the wheels/tyres and a photo of my own gold aurion to try and spot a difference between the photoshop and the other two. It's got me beat!

    Are you sure there's a change? laugh.gif

  9. I tend to get around 600km per tank.

I use BP Ultimate 98 and have done since I got the car at 33,000km. I agree with Daryl regarding the octane rating and the fact it doesn't really improve your economy at all really. I just use it because well, piece of mind I guess.

Mind you I drive around 80km per day and 70 of that is freeway/highway driving, hence where the 600km figure comes from. But that doesn't usually stick depending if I decide to go on a spirited drive or not.

  10. I was laying in bed last night thinking what it would be like if I could somehow show everyone that it's possible to install a turbo onto a ZR6.

It has already been done by someone in the Albury/Wodonga area (NSW/VIC boarder), back in around 2008. It has also been done in the US before also.

Haven't sold anything yet... But you never know!

    What do you sell?

Oh well there ya go, here I am thinking you were the first person haha.

I don't sell anything, I'm just saying I might sell stuff one day to start a project, who knows!

  11. I was laying in bed last night thinking what it would be like if I could somehow show everyone that it's possible to install a turbo onto a ZR6. But I knew it 'd be too expensive, now look what I find hahaha. :)

Haven't sold anything yet... But you never know!

  12. I just had my 120,000km service done and as part of that serivce they check over the driveshaft to see if anything needs to be done. (I am experiencing sligh shuddering at high speed (not the wheels as its all been balanced and other wheels have been tried etc) so i wanted it all checked.

I've been told my driveshaft boots are leaking grease (cars at 121,000km) but was also told this was due to 1. Having my car lowered and 2. Having caster offset bushes fited (both reasons im finding a bit hard to believe but it only started happening since the caster offset bushes were fitted...)

And to replace them will cost $289.30 per side including fitting.

So I don't know if this is a common occurance around the 120,000km mark. But like I said I was specifically told the driveshaft boots are leaking due to the suspension changes. So I don't know.

(They also mentioned that they think the boots will just keep leaking because of the 'angle change' of the passenger side drive shaft caused by the offset bushes.)

Just thought i'd throw in my two cents there.

  13. I had King's put on my ZR6 in June 2010 and the shocks are at about 90% wear give or take according to the last service I just had done where I had everything checked.

When I had them fitted, camber levels were increased a fair bit. Especially on the passenger side which was strange. I've gone through 2 sets of tyres since the install 12 months ago, all because the camber was too much. So i'd say getting camber sorted wouldn't be a bad idea. :)

In terms of ride comfort, it didnt' really change much from a standard ZR6 which was good, but speed bumps become an issue and forget having more than 2 in the car haha. I had a full car and boy was that fun! Couldn't even get out of the driveway on an angle lol.

I think that answers all your questions anyway. Other than the camber and the shock life, they're a good investment. The car looks really good (look at sig). :)

Although when the shocks die, I'm putting in coilovers.

  14. Western Ring Road... Need I say more...

The roadworks they've started over what is it like 3 years ago now? They haven't got anywhere on it, and all they've done is turned practically all the road from the Ring Road enterance at the Westgate/Princess Freeway all the way past the Tullamarine Freeway Exits (Melb Airport) into a cobbled road... It's THAT bad. I drove on that road for the first time in about a year and a half from Yarraville last Saturday night and I was completely amazed at how bad the road was... So sad. :(

The bad thing is that road M80 upgrade will never be completed so yeah. :(

  15. My list isn't a very long list but it's a list none the less... Yeah that'll do...

    - 1986 Toyota Corolla CSX (AE82) Hatch Red - 3spd Auto 1.6L 4A-C -> My first car and still one of my favorites.

    - 1992 Ford Falcon GLi (EB II) Sedan White - 4spd Auto 4.0L 6cyl -> My first and only FR vehicle, it was a comfy ride but had horrible peformance. Even after a reconditioned/rebuilt engine. LPG killed this car. :(

    - 2007 Toyota Corolla Levin ZR (ZRE152) Hatch Black - 4spd Auto 1.8L 2ZR-FE -> My first brand new car, $34,990 drive away with almost all extras from the factory. Unfortunately this car turned into a HUGE lemon at just 3,300kms.

    - 2008 Toyota Corolla Levin ZR (ZRE152) Hatch Black - 4spd Auto 1.8L 2ZR-FE -> Same car as before however this was a brand new replacement from Toyota Australia due to the issues the previous one had. Apparently this is a VERY rare occurance! I was very happy! :)

    - 2007 Toyota Aurion Sportivo ZR6 (GSV40R) Sedan Aurora Gold - 6spd Auto 3.5L 2GR-FE -> My current car and the car i've owned for the longest as well. This car has had mods like intake, suspension, front and rear sway bars/braces and custom 18" wheels. Bought at 33,400km, now at 121,100km after just 3 years. :)

  16. Okay, this time I've checked my schedule and while I'm hideously busy that weekend, I'm making a special exception this time, because I always miss these things now with life and work and stuff. :( Want to catch up with you all again.

Watergardens is my preference due to proximity and the fact it's like less than a year old. But Highpoint is ok too, ah the good ol days of Highpoint and spending entire days playing Initial D at the arcade there. :P

Bowling is my preference also due to the fact Laser Skirmish and I don't get along. But if Laser Skirmish it is, i'll still go for some socialising. :)

    So LOCK IT IN EDDIE!

    Attending List:

    1. Tash

    2. Dwee

    3. Jeffy - hopefully car would be finished by then, loving the progress on it check my page ;)

    4. Tofuboi - OMFG!

  17. Hahaha I'm surprised no one spots me! I'm everywhere; west, north, central and south-east!

    I take the same route every day to work, wether it be at 4-5am, 6-7am, 8-9am, 9-10am, 1-2pm, 2-3pm, 4-5pm or 5-6pm.

Sunbury via Sunbury/Bulla Road to Tullamarine Fwy. Tulla Fwy through Citylink to Monash, getting off at Burwood Highway/Toorak Road exit. Then down Toorak Road/Burwood Hwy to 301 where I work.

Then the exact opposite back home.

Go on that route and ill spot you haha. ;)
