  1. And now time for a third post in a row from me.

I went back to Toyota then to thank the service advisor for getting everything organised. After all, my warranty does expire today so it's good to have problems like that fixed with minimal fuss.

I asked about the part though that was shown as ordered. Turns out that the steering shaft wasn't touched... just inspected and ordered.

And that brings me to the next point which is that the slight knocking sounds that had developed must not have been the steering shaft. Most probably it was something else that just happened to be tightened as part of the service. Quite interesting. And I had driven it in the same places I usually do on a day to day basis where I can say I pretty much always replicate the knocking... except after the service. Hmmmmm.

I am still a little puzzled over that upper steering shaft component I mentioned earlier. The part number is different to that of my Sportivo which was built around the same date. If that was replaced, I don't know when.

Regardless, the new intermediate shaft has been ordered and they will give me a call when they get it in so it can then be fitted.

See I found this interesting with my 90,000km service too Daryl.

I had creaking-like sounds coming from the strut hats on the front suspension when turning at low speed. Took it in for a service and miraculously the sound has disappeared, yet Toyota said they never touched them at all. All they did was put some brackets on my strut brace to prevent it from rubbing against the bonnet. As it did for some time before the creaking sounds happened. Very strange.

Good to see they're still gonna replace it tho.

  2. I Had a quick check today and found my boot vent had popped out again and was the cause for the leak

That's the exact cause on mine aswell. Had it checked yesterday and low and behold. It's coming in from there. So they're replacing the vent and putting stuff to seal it around it too.

  3. RIGHT!

I finally found the possible entrance of the leak. I noticed when I got to the car today (I had washed it yesterday), there was some condensation buildup in the passenger side tail light. Low and behold there's a puddle sitting in the bottom of said taillight!

It's going in to the dealer tomorrow to have it investigated and replaced. :)

  4. Since new I have experienced rain water in the passenger's side boot well. So far we have identified, water leaking from rear window, roof seam, boot vent, boot rubber and still water comes in. I now suspect that there is also water leaking from petrol filler or somewhere above that area as I have tracked water marks to that area. There also seems to be some coming in around near the rear light assembly. Can someone please help as this is an unbelievable problem.

    You too eh?

I've had this problem for a fair while myself, unfortunately we've yet to locate the cause. I've worked with my dealer for many a month trying to figure it out but just no dice.

Initially it started on the drivers side, but that was a seperate issue.

I hope you have better luck than I did.

Can you tell me where you think it is coming from , perhaps one of the spots identified already in my vehicle? What have you tried, mine seems to be worse when you actually drive while it is raining, I think the wind pressure forces water in.

Well I've had pretty much everything tried, boot seals, window realignment, grommets checked. But I suspect it's something coming up through the wheel well maybe. But I am unsure. It's only in the left pocket now. I haven't had the actual spare wheel section fill with water since a while back. So I'm not sure.

Oh and also, it depends on wether a particular transaction comes in my favour in the next few weeks. :)

  7. Well the strut brace is replaced and all is well in the world again.

Turns out we found a hairline fracture had been the cause of it all from day 1. As a result, it had been rust damaged over time and eventually snapped.

Like my mech said, he had never seen one break in his life. Even aftermarket ones.

Pics to follow later on when I get home from work.

  8. I'm not sure about a scraping sound. May be similar to what Nathan (Tofuboi) was talking about where he was saying the bolts were just a little loose. Tightening them all seemed to fix his issue. Not rue if yours could be fixed int he same manner.

Apart from that, I can imagine you getting squeaks if you didn't put some lithium grease or equivalent grease on the bushes when you fitted them.

Oh well have I got some news for all of you today. :P

The most amazing thing happened... </sarcasm>

I started to hear that knocking sound again today, was all too familiar. But I noticed it was for ALL the wrong reasons this time.

Got under the car and noticed to my suprise, the bar had snapped. Clean in two on the left hand side.

I can't get a photo right now but I was absolutely dumbfounded as to how it happened. The knocking started when I was driving in a straight line not even applying pressure to the unit. Anyhow I've had to spend another $340 ordering another as the stock one I had has been turfed thanks to the old man. :S

  9. Damn tash. That is very frustrating! Hope it all works out for you!

I have a set of kings lowering springs if you want it at the next meet ;)

Cheers Reece :) Haha, still got those?? The problem is someone who will install them for me - all the places I've spoken to will only install new ones due to warranty issues. Then there's always that itchy bug in the back of my mind saying I should save up for coilovers instead.

Haha yep, still got them. Dont know much camry modders out there unfortunately :( But yeah, save up for coilovers if thats what you want. But just letting you know that i still got them!

Also saw that your going dual exhaust? Me too tash! The dual exhaust is next on the mod list after i get my body work done. Ill let you know how it goes. and hopefully have it installed by the next meet (highly unlikely though)

I'm thinking of doing Dual Exhaust on the aurion but I've always had doubts about the room required. :( Just not sure yet.

  10. Poor Nathan scraped and got his Aurion stuck on it running King Lows so yeah. But am looking at renting a new place with a friend Dec/Jan so one of the criteria is a flat driveway!!

I felt sad for the Aurion more after that :( Then again we did have two in the car. It'd be interesting with just myself. (Not saying anything bad, im just guessing. the scrape did sound like it came from under myself tho... interesting. lol)
