blown gearbox the car now sits at home like this waiting for a new one... got the v8 now... problem with the v8 is i got a gremlin in the tank and its taking all my fuel it goes soo quick lol

and what ideas to the motor did u have in mind? Update: took the box to work and got a specialist to come and pick it up to have a look at it, good friend of thr company, he will strip it for free, and see if it's repairable and give me quotes to fix. Flywheel is getting machined. ( maybe a new light one ?) Getting a excedy HD clutch replacing my leaking water pump lol

i noticed with 98 i got less than 95, 95 does me good, 550-600k's..

thanx xoom, sending it away tomorrow to get looked at ! i was driving in 3 or 4th i think, only 60km's then caput.. easy shift through all the gears just when releasing the clutch it clunks... anyways ill see if they can reco it. if not ill have to get a 2nd hand. or even try and sourse a already reco'd box... know any places?

I'll sus it out first, clutch etcetc ok umm symptoms neutral and rev is fine, gear 1 clutch down rev fine but when on friction point bang noise, in any gear Inc reverse. When car rolling in neutral " pulled onto to truck " clunk noise evident. I'll look at the fluid tonight !

dunno yet taking box out tomorrow. ill see the clutch in what condition its in. but yeh not looking good for the box.

i didnt know... it went hmmmm for 2 seconds then BANG ! lol gearbox is coming out ! took the driveshafts out and put it in 1st and released the clutch slowly and bang bang. ready to come out ! btw who knows a good manual trans reco place in syd??

yup i swear the noise was coming from my cat... my life savings that noise was from the cat... check ya front engine mount !!!

so this 'crack' will be noticeable on inspection? driving from seven hills to richmond the noise went away on arrival... but on the way from richmond to penrith noise came back... noise is there hot or cold...

Ello all... Ive got a problem. drove to work, parked, started in the arvo then RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE !! AHHH lol.. its between certain rev ranges but changes every day. some days it may be 2-4k then some may be 3-6k... its a metallic rattle like a empty coke can... im dead set sure its from the exhaust after getting under the car and someone revs it. more noticeable when load applied to the engine. sounds like its from the cat ! or the exhaust manifold. i took the heat shields off to make sure its not them, and its not! so sure its the cat ! that being said im looking to upgrade cat back CES, their site says $960.. do i need flexi joints or anything for that kit..? p.s i dont think it includes the cat aye just from the cat back.. also another plan is just to change the cat only... whats a good brand and whats the size is it? what labour is involved? im a noobie at exhausts sorry has any1 heard or had an issue with their cat? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3f12_7XvzA

the "blue stuff" would be the corrosion inhibitor. it prevents the battery acid vapors from forming on the terminals (esp the negative terminal). grease can be used too (although abit more messy) :P Thank you Kenshin, so it is a good thing to have those "blue stuff". yes it is.. keeps a good contact !
