Ever since I had my gearbox done (bearings and synchros), ive noticed a slight vibration, that gets more noticeable with higher revs. At around 2-3k revs, its barely there. But once you start revving the engine a bit harder (4k and above), and change gear, the pedals (even the brake when down shifting) and gear knob tend to vibrate with the engine... Anyone else find this to occur?

Heh, Yeah it was a good cruise. Had a little mishap with my driver, but it ended up being nothing to worry about. All the views were amazing and the roads were equally as good. Thanks to all who organised it, Hope we can have many more in the future. (WITH MORE COROLLA'S) - Sean

I know its late notice, but is anybody interested in coming to the VDRC Drag day tomorrow at Heathcoat? Gates open at 8am, Qualifying is at 11am and racing starts at 3pm. Entry is $20 for adults, and i think $35 for families... It would be great to see heaps of people from the TOCA there, to show all those V8 heads what a 1.8L can do! Anyway. Toyota have already said they are going to replace all the parts And its not going to cost me either. Seeing as the car is still under warranty (for another 5,000k's) Yeah, the noise goes after the clutch has been depressed. True about the 6-speed and 5-speed Ive heard they are both pretty strong Not in this case though ey? Do you know what usually causes this problem at such an early stage?

Or did they break it whilst on a test drive??? Not the first time I have heard of this happening....... Nah dude. I had noticed a weird noise every time i put the car into 1st. And on the downshift from 4th-3rd and 3rd-2nd, the gearbox produced a loud whinning noise But never reported it to Toyota I was more concerned about the tapping noise coming from the engine

Im not sure if many of you will remember my earlier post about having a 'tapping' noise in the engine. After waiting a while, and taking the car to Toyota twice, the problem has now been solved. THE GEARBOX! Yep, its either gonna be the bearings that get replaced, or the sychro's. (my guess, the latter. between 1st and 2nd) The rattle of damaged/worn bearings was echoing up through the engine bay. And i didnt even say anything about the gearbox Toyota found the problem themselves! Not bad, i must say But now they are going to have to keep my car for at least a week :(

Northy, going through the service manual (that you uploaded) Where can i find a parts catelouge? If there is one, does it have a diagram of the part that i want? (in this case, chain tensioner) (ps. im still not 100% percent convinced that it is the timing chain tensioner. why would that make a tapping noise?)

Dude thanks heaps for the pic. Great help Can i just ask though, does the tensioner mount to the left of that little black plate? Or is it mounted 'on top' of it?

It's in the downloadable service manual. Where is that available from? The AUS Toyota website? Or this forum??
