  1. "just put RON95 its better for the car - performance and effiency"

just wondering what is the RON rating for ULP, PULP and SPULP. is it 91 ,95 and 98?

Yea, RON just stands for Research Octane Number. Its just more commonly referred to as octane.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but they are phasing out 91ULP altogether in NSW. So your options will be E10; which is RON95, Premium Unleaded; which is RON95 aswell and Ultra Premium; which is RON98.

    Hope that helps.

  2. @ Anthony and Vijith:

Yes the stock headlight lens messes with the cut off - which is a tad annoying. BUT in saying that it is 100 times better than stock. I am planning in the near future to get the inside of the lens sanded down so its nice a smooth - but i just dont have the time or money at the moment.

Atleast it is not blinding other drivers which was the main reason for me getting these

  3. just wondering is it okay to run E10 unleaded on an old car such as a 1989 EFI camry or would it damage the engine? if so what part(S) of the engine would e10 unleaded damage. thanks

with petrol prices so low, seriously why bother with e10?

just put RON95 its better for the car - performance and effiency

edit: AND its going to cost you like an extra $4 at the pump which I guarentee will be cheaper in the long run that filling up with e10

  4. Ok so I have finally gotten around to taking a few pictures of my Projector retro-fit. Overall I'm really happy with them and I would recomend them to anyone who doesn't already have them.

Sorry for the poorish quality of the shots, there were taken from my iPhone.

In real-life the Angel eyes are much more distinctive, you can actually see the full circle unlike its showing in the picture (as they are pretty damn bright)

I have also ordered a few little gizmos for the car, nothing major though.

  5. its about 200 bucks give or take to redo the roof lining from a professional shop...

Could cost you a little more with a sedan though, as the proper way to do it is to remove either the front or rear window to get the hood lining out...

It is a good DIY project to do, if you have the time, patience or if you can stand to drive without a roof for a few weeks if you have neither of those two.

  6. Where to start...just to let you know if you really want to go down the path to fix it properly, its not just a case of buying a new hood lining from a wrecker - because the car your getting it off is the same age as yours, hence it will happen again in a couple of months.

I did do a quick write up of this before when I did mine and if you would like I can do it again (with pictures if I still have them).

If your wanting a quick solution; get a staple gun wink.gif

Let me know which path you want to go down.

  7. Sounds like it could be fuel related, ahh try a using a concentrated blend of the fuel system cleaner with injector cleaner on a full tank of petrol. If that doesnt work it could be fuel pump, but I'm just throwing around ideas here. The injector stuff is only around $15 so its worth a try.

What kind of petrol do you use? (please dont say E10)

  8. For cheap postage use: www.e-go.com.au

If you are buying off Ebay, ask the seller to:

    1)Pack the boxes

2)Give you the dimensions of the box (or boxes)

3)Give you the weight of each box (or boxes)

4)Give you their address + phone number

Book the consignment and send them the consignment note that they stick on the box (or boxes). Unless they have an account with TNT where they get epic discounts; E-Go is usually your best bet.

Adam: Will keep you informed with the wheels.

Cheers man, do you know any good international courier companies? Theres a few things on SG.com that I want to get but shipping is expensive.

Can Adam (ASG...) do it cheap?

  9. You should get a CAI, once you hear the sound from the intake, trust me you wont want to go back haha.

My car isn't lowered...yet spiteful.gif I'm having to wait until I get back from overseas which will be mid January before I start with the more serious modifications. I've pretty much outlined what I would like to do in the first post on my ride thread.

Borla/TRD exhaust should be coming very soon though - from a friend who is selling his camry

yeah i'd love a cold air intake. my car is too... camry-like haha. the only thing holding me back from mods is money.

i love those stock rims on your camry, looks stealthy. i've got very dated vienta alloys which i'm not a fan of at all.

Haha you like my steelies? You can have them once I get my new rims haha...I hate them

It does look good at night though, kinda looks like I'm floating laugh.gif

yeah i dunno i just like them haha. i really don't know why. the postage would be a killer from sydney i think! i've got my eye on a suspiciously cheap set of 18" rims on ebay at the moment. still tossing up whether to make a bid or not

You want to post up the link? Or PM it to me if you dont wabt others to see?

Would look good with the Alphas, the only thing is you'd probably want to get them fixed up before you put them on. A little bit of gutter rash.

At least they'll come with some Federal 595-SS with tread. I'll keep you updated. :spiteful:

If the price is right, then I don't really mind spending that little bit extra to fix the gutter rash. But yea keep my informed..

  13. This is the exact link to the strut bar i got - http://cgi.ebay.com....d#ht_3091wt_911 - for the 97-2001 V6 models..fits my 2002 gen 4 as it is the same as the 2001 chassis..

I wanted to go for TRD one but it was twice the cost and little bit difficult to get hold of..and i wasnt sure the front strut brace by itself was going to do this much of handing improvement..i mainly bought it for the looks but i cant believe myself how good and firm the front end has got now..ive been pushing it hard over corners and i dont even get the under steer anymore..no more boat like handling..and this is without the rear sway bar, which im hoping to get next..

since you already have a whiteline RSB..this is going to complete it..i hated the front end weight on the corners before..having to use the brakes a lot too..now its good smile.gif

installation was easy..just the stock bolts come off and these brackets go on top as this is made for the car..you will have to adjust the strut brace from both ends to equal the sides because its length is adjustable..make sure both sides are equally screwed in or out..its easy..

awesome! thanks so much for that! when i get paid on monday i'm so buying one yahoo.gif . the handling is the one thing i don't like about my car and it's finally gonna be improved with this and the RSB so i'm excited as. when do you plan on getting your RSB?

    Hey Rad,

Just looking at your Avatar there. That is a REALLY nice choice for an exhaust tip...thats exactly what I was planning to get.

Mind giving us some details on what you have done to your ride? Oh an definetly keep us posted on the strut bar aswell...

  14. Hmm that engine bay looks a little...familiar, but its lacking one very important piece. Did you sell/give your UR brace to Anthony?

How much of a difference does it make? Does it turn in better, reduce understeer, less body roll? I was hoping that by the next anual meet to have a whiteline RSB, new springs/shock combo and the UR strut and front undercarriage brace but not sure if those last 2 are worth the extra $300 as a pair.

    Any advice/opinions/experiences??

I sold my brace to lateralaus, who has since sold his Gen5. My strut brace that I had made up is based alot on the TRD one except it's a one piece.

The UR brace made the steering feel more direct and it somewhat reduced understeer. However, I had mine put one before I got the RSB so it actually amplified the body roll because the front was now alot tighter than the rear.

If you are going to supercharge it, don't buy the UR brace as it won't fit. Look for the TRD brace. It's not as stiff as the UR brace (but stiff enough) and it will give you the clearance you need for the charger.

I think I will get the UR racing early next year. With the intention to pawn it off to one of my fellow Gen 4 lovers later on. Not so sure about supercharging my car as it is a bit out dated...

Who knows though... wouldn't mind heading down the track of a Gen 6.5 TRD charged 3mz/1mz-fe hybrid engine?

Sleep with one eye open boys, I'm trouble ph34r.gif

  15. There is a certain person who has suggested to me that the Ultra Racing strut tower brace for the MCV/ACV36r MAY fit on the V6 Gen4 Camry. He's done some measuring but since we didn't have a brace to test it out; it is a try at your own risk sort of thing.

    post-14703-128378334866_thumb.jpg

I'd go the UR brace over the TRD brace any day of the week. the TRD brace is good, but the UR brace is fantastic. The only bad thing is that it doesn't have enough height to clear the supercharger setup.

  16. My Advice Unless your headunit has 3- RCA pre-outs then don't bother running the speakers off the amp. I did this with my first set up and because my headunit only has 2 pre-outs (which means its only sending out the rear signal for the sub) so my whole system sounded sh!t.

If you headunit does has the 3 pre-outs then just run the sub and the front speakers off the amp...no need to run the back ones as they will be overpowered by the sub anyways, unless you have the money to buy another mono-block amp.

Hope that helps you a little.

Oh and I'm going to go against Hotwax and say that you CAN run 5 speakers off a 4 channel amp.

    Channel 1 + 2 for the fronts

Channel 3 + 4 for the rears and bridge 1 + 4 for the SUB (depending on the quality of your amp)

  17. i got a front strut brace off ebay..not a whilteline one but i cant believe the handling improvement i got just with the front end..now onto getting a rear sway bar soon to complete it smile.gif

the strut brace and the nasty looking weapon R custom air intake on the right wink.gif

    t0lymg.jpg

Wish my engine bay was that clean....dry.gif

Mind if I ask how much you paid for the strut? Did it make any difference at all?

I've seen these around ebay before and I did consider it, but knowing me and my driving style I would DEFINETLY warp it...so IF I was going to get one I would only consider the Genuine TRD or ULTRA RACING.

It does look good though haha

Ooh By the way, check out my thread in the Member's ride section, I've installed my projectors with HID's...tell me what you think (I haven't uploaded any good pics yet though just a quick one)

  18. Bored at work, so I thought I would give you a little update for those who are interested.

Projectors are in and looking very good, only issur is that the right one sort of flickers a little sometimes; not on and off but like bright and low if that makes sense. Heres a quick picture.
