  1. Mod Update:

    - Tinted rear lights and side blinkers

    - Carbon fibre Eye-lids

    - LED instrument cluster

Sneaky Peaky of photoshoot. The rest of the pics will be up within the next couple of days.

Overall really happy with how they worked out.

  2. I had a similar problem, when my friend and I decided to do a DIY Throttle Body port. I have a feeling in my situation though that some metal shavings got in the sensor. The gains were good mind you.

I thought I could put up with it however, on really really cold mornings the car wouldn't start without a little help from my right foot. So I just bought a new throttle body from the wreckers, cost me $100 so its not that expensive.

  3. So I got paid last night from work. YAY!

Looking on ebay for things that I used to dream about having for the car, and oops I accidently bought a few things.

    - HID kit; 6000k

    - and maybe some, ahh...carbon fibre ph34r.gif

  4. Corolla Sportivo has a bodykit... Camry Sportivo has a bodykit... Aurion Sportivo has a bodykit... (just to name a few)

    Generalising much?

The cheaper alternatives are made from fibreglass but if your going to modify a car then do it properly, pay that bit extra for the quality. Shop around and don't go over the top.

Paseo's are great little cars, they dont really need a bodykit in my opinion. Put a nice set of wheels (not chromies), lower it a bit, put a nice exhaust on it (not cannon) and you'll be turning heads for the right reasons rather than for laughs. But it is your car and most people can make something look really good if they put the time and effort in, if you've got a plan then go for it.

    I did, and I wouldn't go back!

  5. So stay away from 55w, got it haha.

Are the 35w going to be much brigther than the so claimed 'ultra vision' that i have in my car now?

By ultra vision do you mean those halogens that are coated blue and claiming to be white? if you are comparing the 35w HIDs to that there is no comparison at all because the 35w HIDs are so many times brighter than any halogens.

Yea thats the ones that i have now, they are pretty good but i still find myself using my highbeams waaay too much haha. I think i might get one of those kits from ebay. See how it goes, if im happy with it then down the track ill buy a better branded one.

    Thanks for your help :)

  6. Just a quick one guys.

With regards to h4 HID kits is there a big difference between 35 and 55w systems? Will there be a brighter light with either one?

    ==================================================================

looks good dude, i rekon clear tail lights look ace on white cars, and would set ur car off, also drop it on its nuts and stick 18s under it, i had a gen 3 widebody on its ***** on 18s but ran into probs and had to sell it off cheap, (ps not real keen on your rear bar (but thats my opinion), and i wouldnt put a spoiler on it, but im liking the rest of ur ideas, colour coding etc, i like the idea of deep dish white face rims with chrome lip, i had 18x8 advanti wheels with 235/40r18 nexen treads(pictured) paid $1500 package deal fitted up here in qld, however they scrubbed on full lock incase its an issue, anyway good luck with the rest of the build

Not that bigger fan of clear lights (plus i dont know of any for a gen4) ill most likely be tinting them a little; not too much to impeede the strength of the lights or to attrach attention just enough to get rid of the bright red during the day.

As for slamming it on its a@$3, im going for more of a performance look rather than show. Anybody that knows me well enough will know my driving style, so slamming it wouldnt be the best option; plus i regularly have a full car so i cant be bothered to deal with the sag when i go over bumps etc.

Lastly like Trent said thats a stock rear bar. The GTP kit adds the flares to either side. There arent that many rear bars for a camry and the ones out there look sh!thouse to be honest.

  8. very nice. Now get a spoiler and if possible find the GTP spoiler risers. Colour code mirrors and door handles and she'll be a million bucks GTP :)

    Thanks.

About the spoiler raisers...if you find anyone selling just them by themselves I'd be more than happy to buy them, might take a while considering it took me 2 years to find the kit. Yikes

  9. Hey all,

Been on the forum for a while driving just your ordinary white Gen 4.

Car is a 1998 Model CSi

    Automatic

245000kms on it, high I know...but I take good care of it - serviced every 5000kms without fail!

First mod that I did was the intake; I removed both the intake resonators so it still runs the factory air-box. It screams which is good for scaring people, but it also provides a deeper note to a SRI which i experimented with originally.

Next came the sound system upgrade, all done in my garage.

    Currently running:

    - Ebay Double Din headunit. Touch screen (not all impressed with its opperations)

    - JBL splits in the front; with tweeters intalled on the door trimming

    - Sony 6x9's in the back

    - Fusion Mono block 900watt amp in boot

    - Explode 1000watt sub (with neons that flash with the bass - I know its gay but i was bored)

    - Sony 4channel wiring throughout - done VERY neatly.

For this next mod, I really do have to give a BIG thanks to Trent for helping me find it. He managed to find me a Brand spanking new Gen 4 GTP kit. It arrived about 3 weeks ago in its 'Genuine Toyota Parts' box. I got it painted yesterday, then spent all night installing it. To be honest I can't stop looking at it, especially when driving next to office buildings with glass windows.

    - Projector retrofit, with 6000k HID's

    - Whiteline 20mm rear swaybar

    - Ultra racing front strut bar

Thats all I can think of at the moment.

All comments are welcome, weather they be positive or negative.

Where did you get the Little TRD badge thats above the indicator, I want them for the same spot, except below as my car is not VVTi haha

  11. Hey guys,

I was wondering how do i inspect the drive belt / timing belt ( are they the same thing), the mechanics said its gonna cost around $350 to check it or something.

because my camry 2001 v6, its approaching 180k kms, plus going on a road trip to brisbane from melb , don't want it to stuff up on me.

    cheers!

There should be a sticker on the side of the black housing that says when it was last changed. The V6 has to be changed every 150x kms so if it hasnt been changed before its well overdue.

  12. Mine didnt come with that sticker. I have a different one lol.

Whats your one look like? I've only ever seen the one that I have on other camry's. Is your direct from factory??? By the way, help me convince Leon to sell me his TRD exhaust his mum seriously doesn't need the extra power/appreciate the rarety nor the beautiful tone it produces!

  13. Have you considered a Fiat or Alfa Romeo? Great bargains available for under $5k, with the added bonus of European superiority and driving panache. Otherwise, consider a later model Corolla. The Camry you want is over 20 (!) years old & things have and will go wrong with a 20 year old car.

    Hahaha

You say that as if the Fiat or Alfa would be more reliable than the camry?clap.gif

Dont forget it is his first car, and he is getting it for free. Even if you do have to end up spending $1000 to fix up a problem its still cheaper in the long run than buying another car.

I'd put all the money in my name towards a camry going longer than an old European.

  14. It tells you how to programme the remote in the user manual. From memory you have to turn the key from OFF to ON three times within 10seconds then the security light on the speedo should stay on then simply press the button of the new remote and hey presto.

I have no idea why toyota would charge you that much money for something like that, i would be speaking to the manager about the issue, but its up to you.
