  1. Wheel offset plays a HUGE role. There's 215/45 R18 89W for Bridgestone Potenza RE050A, maybe they have it in 17s? They are good tyres, even the Ferrari F430 uses them as OEM :P If anyone wants 225/45 R17 ultra-high performance tyres for track and street i have Potenza RE070s, stiffer sidewall than any other tyre you can get on the market ;)
  2. go to WSID! take it off the street, WSID or Wakefield Park, if yous are gonna thrash your cars at least do it at the track! no difference and also save yourslef some money and demerit points, or even your life.. okok enuf.. :P btw Gts-t is 2.5 turbo not 1.5 :P
  3. Haven't asked others but i know Subarus crunch gears heaps.. actually to be honest out of all the cars i have owned only the multicone sychro boxes have crunched so much.. my old WRX and Civic never crunched. In my Stivo it crunched and it had double-cone synchros, in the MPS 3 tripple cone synchros 1st to 3rd but its like a "slow crunch" when shifting at like 2000rpm from 1st into 2nd. Not like the Stivo crunching when shifting fast at high revs. Shifting fast is not a problem in the MPS 3 like above 3000rpm its ok. These couple of days its great because it has warmed up so much. When i crunched its always in the first 10minutes of driving and the car's ambient temp gauage was showing less than 10degress. After 10minutes of driving its all good. I contacted Redline about this and they said it can happen but its not doing any harm and it will probably go away in summer They did recommend i try Superlightweight Shockproof or MT90 for better shift feel. But new gearbox oil (MT90) will go in at 5000kms anyway so thats only about a month away, hopefully will be better with that not that the current shft feel is bad, its damn good and shifts very well just the annoying odd "metal to metal" crunchy feel when car is cold.
  4. thats alright Dylan It was a last minute thing that i decided to go, now i should know my way and hopefully see some of yous there on the 30th ;)

  6. Would be interested at what prices they quote u dude ;)
  7. Was gonna head down to WSID today to spectate cos i know a guy with a MPS 3 was gonna run but i lost my way . I heard a XR5 turbo ran a 14.5 followed by 14.8, 14.8 with 25psi front tyre pressure and not sure what else, MOTOR ran a 15.3s pass. This guy with the MPS 3 ran a 14.8 with 155km/h pass, his 1st time at drags, no adjustment to tyre pressure, everything still in car with all his other crap. He left after 2 runs. He also said he was taking it easy shifting before 6000rpm and ended up having to use 5th gear to cross the line during that 14.8 pass. I guess he could have held it in 4th bcus 4th maxes out at 164km/h so an extra shift probably cost him 2/10 tenths or more. It's good to know what to look out for now ;) But i don't know about lowereing tyre pressures, puts a lot more strain on the mounts.
  8. yeh its on/off.. some mornings its there some mornings its not. I am very sure its cold mornings causing it, once its fully warmed up like it shifts great. Like today for example its not a problem ;)
  9. There's no problem with the box mate, it's those "normal" cold box crunches, had them in the Stivo too in 3rd gear when u shift slowly.. when the day hots up above 20degrees or so it has no problems. Thats why i think MT90 provides better cold box shifting than Shockproof, but Shockproof does protect the gears heaps more. ;)
  10. 10,000kms or 6 months whichever occurs first. If you track it or drive it hard then before and after every drag or track run is recommended.
  11. Hi bozurolla, thanks for that, i have actually put Lightweight Shockproof into my gearbox! :D and its been working great so far except when the car is cold 2nd gear synchros don't seem to catch up and i can crunch it quite easily even shifting very slowly. If i rev it up a bit in 1st it usually goes in better or when the car has been driven for while it usualyy gets better. All other gears shift like knife into butter :) I also have some MT90 for the next time i change my tranny oil (which is very soon after some spirited driving), would just like to feel the difference.
  12. would that have been Dave's? He has sold that and got a XR6T.. I think his best was 128kw atw.
  13. Try owning a Porsche guys.. u would wish you have a Hyundai with 5 year warranty! btw.. Porsche are ranked the most unreliable cars in Europe. When u have a Porsche u would think high performance car, should be able to take some beating, but think again. IMO cars are like tools, its an equipment meant to be used. It's also built for user enjoyment, so if you don't enjoy it or use it i personally don't see why you shoud have a car. If its only for getting from A-B then the Stivo is ot for you. High performance cars are built for driver enjoyment. As to "thrashing" a car, its very subjective so i won't go there. You can drive a car hard but not thrash it. IMO high performance cars are meant to be higher in performance and more durable otherwise how can it take the higher performance? So i expect to drive it in a way to extract its performance potential. The Stivo has a state of the art high revving engine so the only way to extract it is to rev it, no other way around. If you don't like revving and feels that it doesn't suit yur style of driving or usage, get another car like the MPS for example :P Plenty of torque down low over 300nm at 2500rpm, never have to use more than 5500rpm. It's quiet and you won't think that you are straining the engine, although turbo cars are more of a pain to look after than NA cars. If it breaks, bad luck, get it fixed or dump it and get a new one. Thats the way it is, no matter what car you own.
  14. Dylan i got my helmet already when we going to WSID/WP again? Lets hit it before it gets warm! I think the Stivo is a bloody great car, i wouldn't have sold it if i knew i would be quitting my long distance job But no complaints with the MPS though, just very different cars to own. I impressed a modded (170kw atw) Jap Spec S15 Silvia yesterday :D Forget about Pulsars, they are good 2liter donks but no where near the speed of a Stivo, the 2zz is built for top end speed. I raced a modded SR20 equipped before and in 1st up till 6000rpm we were neck and neck but as soon as i hit LIFT its over.
  15. yeah thats right :) , i read some mag saying the 3mps is faster than a porsche in third to fourth(i think) and they say the 3mps rolling start is like untouchable It was WHEELS, and not just any Porshce, its the 250+kw 911 Carerra :D WHEELS & MOTOR reviews (scroll down to bottom) I know a guy who was saying he ran an MPS3 the other night on a rolling start from 2nd, he said they go alright...but he took it down with a cb70 charade running 10 pound with a broken turbo Not fair to compare modded to stock though, for a stock car the MPS3 is a great deal, top choice Zee :) LOL! a Charade!!?? Damn that would feel bad Just like a MPS3 being quicker than a $200,000 Aston Martin V8 Vantage from 80-120! Ha, guess that owner wouldn't be too happy either!!

  17. Dont worry zee ill take up ur challenge soon enough :P :P :P :P :P :P can't wait Bill!! :P i have a lot of respect for the 2zz so would like to see some great times :D
  18. So who wants to run me? :P also whos free on the 16th and 23rd :P
  19. From the album: Zeerolla's Mazda 3 MPS

    225/45 R17 Potenza RE070
  20. i might also bring along some lighter 17s and have been using 98RON all the time.. want to do the runs fully loaded to see what i can get and with 2000+kms i don't think the engine has fully "loosened" up yet but confident i can match MOTOR's times ;) check out the trap speed, it craps all over the 2 awds :P its 1.5km/h off the EVO9's pace @ 1000m so if i get the launch right and not wheelspin too much in 1st/2nd/3rd i should be alright.
  21. Thanks! Well there you go Zee your target to crack low 14's!!! i will be lucky to match my big brother's times! :P They are AWD remember, maybe some stickier tyres would help ;) My Bridgestone Potenza RE050A have no chance on a drag strip. MOTOR got a 14.2s pass @ 153.23km/h for the MPS6, and 14.67s @ 157.9km/h for the MPS3. SO its all in the launch and traction ;) Would love to crack a WRX's time though, 14.29s @ 154.31km/h.
