  1. So any firm dates?? I just got my helmet today!! ahh.. finally after so many years.. :P i should be cool for anyday the next few weeks! On holidays!!
  2. The later series RX7s are on my "dream" list :P In Japan its so common to see 400-500hp from them with bolt-on mods.. its actually "disgraceful" to have an RX7 with less than those figures! But they are not the most economical things to run.. and was told that those rotaries arn't the most bomb-proof engines either but i guess it all comes down to how you drive it and how you mod it. Boost is like a drug, all turbo car owners want more of it but going too far will always certainly end with tears ;) :D
  3. ok i bought 4 x Bridgestone RE070 for $700 (some call them street legal semis)! Has 95% thread on them, brand new ones would cost me nearly $1500. These are OEM tyres on the 05/06' STI and have extremely stiff sidewalls, known to many to grip even better than some semis. They are also better in the wet and quieter and have much better wear rates up to 40,000kms for street driving. In the latest MOTOR, they eve said the the STI has an edge over the EVO bcus of these tyres. The thing is they only come in this size so i am getting myself some new 17inch rims for $600-$800. Works out the total cost is only $1600, a worth while investment imo ;)
  4. zee i dont wanna c u down there until ur prepared 2 take the car down there as hard as u can !!!!! dont want any excuses now do we :P :P :P :P as i want a good time to take down come on Bill giv me a break i'm a virgin to drag racing man so thats already a good enough excuse! i think i will be fighting myself more than racing anybody else!
  5. i might be interested to see what i can do in the MPS.. taking it easy of course :P its only got 2000kms on it right now.
  6. hehe hope so dude.. :P thats why i am VERY reluctant to mod it just incase something goes BANG! The MAzda 3s have been rather reliable thus far so i don't think the MPS will be any worse. Engine/gearbox i don't know only time will tell but bothe the engine and gearbox are soooooo smooth.. Did any of yous read the latest MOTOR review of the R32? To me, i interpreted as not being spectacular but good. Handling was average being 1500kg in weight and AWD it understeers a fair bit and refuses to tuck its nose into a corner, and the engine not that inspiring either having a very narrow power band with peak torque at 4000+rpm and peak power around 6000rpm. VW should have whacked a turbo on like the GTI ;) Motor gave the Golf GTI 5 stars but there is just a hint in this review the R32 might get outgunned and out-tuned by the Golf GTI being lighter and more affordable.
  7. Wonder what the "mechanical torque sensing LSD" in the MPS3 would be? ;) My money is on a clutch type..
  8. Some lucky *people* got to go to the "Mazda Performance Drive Day" at Willowbank Raceway and got to fang the MX5, RX8, MPS 6 and MPS 3 and even get some driving tips from Dik Johnson. Mazda Performance Drive Day review needless to say the MPS 3 impressed a lot of people. There are some cool pics (1 of Dik Jonhson himself in an MPS 3) and a in car video of a OMC member fanging the MPS 3 around te track! ;)
  9. Thanks Dylan, i think the Brdgestone RE070 is out of equation because they only come in 17inch size 225/45 for the STI. So that would mean i need new wheels if i really wanted those tyres which are $360 each brand new. Anybody used the Falkens before? Some say they are noisy and don't last. Hmm guess i either have to stick with my RE050A which are not shabby ultra high performance tyres but more on the comfort side, or go with Toyo for some other options.
  10. Hi guys just asking for opinions on these 2 tyres.. both ultra high performance tyres. Would prefer to go Bridgestone RE070, OEM tyre on STI. Was told they can last up to 50,000kms on the street. Anyone got prices on them and knows which would last longer? Performance i gather they are both very similar. Also do they come in the size i want 215/45 R18. I'll be ringing around soon but just want some opinions from people here. Cheers, Z
  11. Whats all this BS about VWs.. :P my fwd MPS will woop its a55 :P even the awd R32 :P and that is with ZERO mods..
  12. The last time i checked most dealers were charging me $60/hr but they take much longer to get a job done.. i think thats where the difference is. i think thats why there is ultratune or the good old neighbouhood mechanic that charges $40-$50/hr :P
  13. how do they explain their $90/hr labour cost ripoffs..
  14. Damn thats nasty!! :o Maybe the soarer had synchro issues to start with?? But it doesn't affect Subie owners which is wierd.. most of them say they have vastly improved shifting, maybe because Subaru gearboxes are terrible to shift to start with. I think it might affect some gearboxes and not others, but i guess always better to be safe than sorry ;) nope, the gearbox was fine before he used it. Their technical specs clearly recommend their MTL (manual transmission liquid) series for synchromesh gearboxes. The lightweight shockproof is for dogboxes and diffs... 2nd line states 'not recommended for most syncro-type transmissions' see here...http://www.redlineoil.com/products_gearlub...amp;subcatID=20 EDIT: weiwei and Corey... ahh, I see the superlightweight, not the lightweight. But still, they don't recommend for synchro-type transmissions as it can be 'slippery' (their words) Yeh i saw that on their website to Dylan, but i contacted Redline toda and they say its ok to use the Lightweight shockproof and wouldn't casue anyharm whatsoever!? Now i'm really confused... They did also say the Superlightweight shockproof and MT90 would be better if i am after extra smooth shifts during cold and hot weather. I also spoke to Redline resellers and all reckon the Lightweight Shockproof is good stuff. This really sucks.. albeit doing some research on the net revealed Redline oils to be damn good and well worth the money, period. So MT90 better for synchros but not as good in protecting gears compared to Shockproof.. hmm. I also read that Sulphur is the killer for synchros in some synthetic gearoils, but i guess Redline oils have none of that stuff. I have come to the conclusion that how long your gearbox is gonna last being in top condition greatly depends on how you use it :P abuse it and no matter what oil you use you will end up with sh!t.. so i think i am gonna drop MT90 into my gearbox being 75W90 GL4 which is what my owner's manual recommends. better stick with what they recommend i suppose for warranty reasons ;)
  15. i think in the 1st year the repair and maintenance bills will already kncok you off your feet.. :P

  17. I know Redline oils been talked about so much but just conflicting stories here regarding their Shockproof gearoils.. Some say its not suitable for synchromesh gearboxes but many Subaru owners use the Lightweight/Heavyweight Shockproof gearoils in their WRXs, STIs, Liberties etc etc.. I know a few guys here with the Stivo are using the Superlightweight Shockproof, how is it and does anyone know anything about the Lightweight stuff?
  18. I've seen that car with signage and all at Liverpool's McGrath VW. Freakin Hot looking car i must say. But for nearly $60k on road (rrp $55k) i am not paying all that for it.
  19. Damn!! Knew i should have chosen Honda for this race :P Big pat on back for Jenson though, he is one of the most consistent/reliable drivers around unlike some others who are a bit accident prone and expensive for teams. But what a race, edge of seat stuff! The best race yet imo, partly bcus there were so many twists and HONDA FINALLY WON!! :P But on a serious note it wasn't raw pace that Honda had (Ferrari on drys were damn quick), they weren't slow either but it was Honda's strategy and tyre choice which went perfect with Jenson staying out on inters until right at the end as there was a possibility of rain again. This is what Formula 1 is about, everything coming together to win races. We just needed a bit of rain in the last few laps to stuff everything up, those dry slicks are absolutely hopeless in damp to wet conditions, we saw it in one of the earlier races where people on slicks were basically losing it at every corner and even on the straights.
  20. Mate sorry to hear that.. some of these law enforcers just make people sick, they carry around the wrong attitude and personally thats why no one wants to join the force unless they are desperate because of this sick culture they have.. did you hear the recent news about them being stupid with alcohol and sexually harrassing female cadets? Bloody disgraceful. I have had a cop come zooming up behind me at 2am in the morning and stopping me for no apparrent reason, i was driving at 80 in an 80 zone. He got out with another guy (i presume is a probationary constable bcus he looked young), then he starts going off at me speeding and stuff and i said i wasn't speeding then he went on to say "r u saying i am an idiot?" he was spot on.. anyhow he left without giving me anything except waste my time. I was also defected for a slightly slanted rego plate once, and having boost/air-fuel ratio gauges in my old WRX, $250 fine. I was just cruising at Wollongong beach when a copper decided to pull me over and check over my car. My advice is there will always be people like that around, just have to play smart and not get caught, meaning being more diligent with foggies and mods etc. Its gonna be hard for you to fight it unless you got time/money, so i say just pay the fine and get on with it. ;)
  21. there is no 'lift' controller... You can adjust timing and fuel mixtures but not lift with the camcon... Good choice on the Sportivo ;) like Dylan said a LIFT/VTEC/MIVEC controller is a waste of time and money.. save it.
  22. Honda seems to be back up to speed BUT reliability!!! like Williams.. dodgy. <_<
  23. MOTOR PCOTY - Japanese segment -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the new MOTOR mag with their PCOTY Japanese segment test.... some interesting results in there with the 3MPS and 6MPS. Both cars got good reviews but the 3 was noted as being stacks of fun especially. The 3MPS came out equal 4th overall tied with the WRX and the 6MPS was down in 7th. 1st place was tied between the STI and the 350Z if anyone was interested. Now for the numbers: Acceleration and trap time: The 6MPS was 0.4s quicker 0-100kmh than the 3, 0.4s quicker over the quarter and only 0.1s quicker over the standing 1000m. Not entirely surprising given the advantage of AWD on the take off. The 3MPS also beat the 350Z and WRX over the standing 1000m. Needless to say both killed the MX5 but then it isn't a straight line warrior. Track work: Here's where it gets interesting... the 3MPS with only FWD was quicker around Oran Park than the 6MPS!!! 0.2s quicker to be exact and only 0.1s behind the MX5. Suggested driving technique for the 3 and the 6 was to shift by 6000rpm rather than rev it right out as it just wasted time and speed. They also noted that the 3 was almost as quick driving at 80% effort as it was at 100%. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyone got this mag yet?? Can't see it anywhere yet.. ;) Was also told they didn't test the car on a prepared drag strip so times were a little disappointing but nevertheless the MPS3 performed very well! Other cars involved the EVO 9, a special edition STI P26 or sumthin, Lexus IS250 and other Jap cars. I will also mention the times from the WHEELS review (they gave it 4 1/2 stars btw ).. *Standing start acceleration: 0-60km/h 3.4s 0-80km/h 4.6s 0-100km/h 6.6s 0-120km/h 8.8s 0-140km/h 11.1s 0-160km/h 14.9s *now these times wern't the best due to WHEELS stuffing up their new VBox II testing equipment which took them 1hr to fix, subsequently they were left with 10minutes track time @ Oran Park so they bashed out 7 consequtive runs with no cooling down time. Speed in gears: 1st 55km/h @ 6500rpm 2nd 86km/h @ 6500rpm 3rd 125km/h @ 6500rpm 4th 164km/h @ 6500rpm 5th 209km/h @ 6500rpm 6th 250km/h @ 6100rpm (restricted) In gear acceleration prowess: MPS3 (3rd gear 80-120km/h) 3.5s (4th gear 80-120km/h) 4.1s in comparison to the competition in 3rd gear... Audi RS4 3.4s Porsche 911 Carrera 3.6s HSV GTO 3.8s Aston Martin V8 Vantage 4.0s Ford XR6 Turbo 4.0s Renault SportMegane 225 4.0s Subaru WRX 4.2s VW Golf Gti 4.4s Ford XR5 turbo 4.5s BMW M5 7speed 4th gear 4.2s
  24. hahahahahahahahahaha ..... i think this one has to be the funniest ive seen posted in this thread ..... and then u woke up right Zee :P :P :P :P :P :P yeh i fell asleep reading the latest MPS3 review by WHEELS then had that very realistic dream but finally woke up to reality :P So what is it Bill!? Mu guess would be a hairdryer!! Can't go past a hairdryer for BFYB ;)
