and ive just realised ive run outta beer! :o

  2. Sorry DAvo. I shouldnt be lazy and ask question properly. I havent picked any speakers yet and I was just wondering if Alpine will be better option than JBL. In my previous Camry I had Pioneer speakers and amp. I dont really know much about other brands. I've checked the setup you suggested and it looks good.

I checked eBay and prices look pretty good. I'll take a drive to local store and see if they can do better deal on the whole set.

its all good man :) relieved that i didnt offend :)

anyway yea the alpine s type set up works pretty well from what ive seen... i was looking at going the type r set up all round but gota good deal on some mb quart reference speakers... pioneer would be good as well, i think the TS-A or TS-D range sits around the type S/R level of performance?

which headunit will you be powering this set up with?

  3. Alpine comparing to JBL?

in which way? sorry i didnt quite pick up what you put down in your last message? If you had already chosen your speakers than that was my mistake, was just suggesting a different set up which ive heard before and sounded great.

anyway just my 2c, sorry if it didnt sit right with you mate.

  4. if you want a system which will give you great sound quality without breaking the bank, perhaps go for a set up like:

front: Alpine s type 6.5inch components

    rear shelf: Alpine s type 6 x9's

amp: alpine mrp f300 4 channel

this will give you great bang for your buck... add dynamat for even better sound :P

but beware... audio stuff can get addictive... i thoguht i escaped the bug a few years ago, until i got the aurion, then it all started up again! :P

    good luck! :)

  5. hi all, im gonna do a total bulb swap, change to LED.

any pictures you's haveto compare the difference would be great, just post em up :)

if anyones knows the numbers/sizes of the LED bulbs i need please let me know.

    (DJKOR) :P

ROOF = not sure on the exact size, i changed mine with a t10 converter (was a flat panel full of smds with a festoon (sp?) adaptor)

    LOWER DOOR = t10

    INNER BOOT = t10

    NUMBER PLATE = t10

    MAP LIGHTS = t10

    GLOVE BOX = t10

any help would be greatly apriciated.

    thanks :D

added to that, if you wanna do your gearbox and centre consol lights, they are t5 led's

and maybe for next time, check this thread out http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=19545

    good luck :)

bro, what the deal with the t10 adaptor? where'd you get this?

sorry its a bit hard to explain... i will take a photo for you later tonight...

basically if you imagine a festoon bulb, which has two wires exiting from its centre, these two wires are connected to a panel of SMD LED's. thats about as best as i can describe it.

Here in perth they can be found in those little auto accessory stores which are usually full of HP increasing stickers/hello kitty mechandise etc :P

  6. ouch!

yeah after speaking to the installer today, the LED's he mentioned to me would only be good for cosmetic purposes... i am still looking at getting a cheap set to put into my fogs - purely for looks. Will eventually upgrade the fogs to HID as well.

guess this proves one thing - Whilst they have massive potential, LED's still have a fair way to go until they hit the masses :P

thanks for all the input fellas!

  8. hey all,

as the title states, ive been told from the installer who did my HID that you can get hi powered LED for your low beams now... i know audi and other luxary companies are using them but has anyone here had experience with a LED conversion with low beams? They are supposed to be as bright as HID's, but will they be a better light to use???

obviously if they can match HID output then they would be awsome, low power needs, instant on, long azz life span....

  9. Claying a new car defeats it's purpose. But definatly a good idea to maintain the body work from day one...

not in all cases... when my car was brand spankers, i clayed it within 1 week and it had a lot of crud on it from the dealership... since then i have only had to clay it once every 2-3 months. (daily driver, OCD owner)

if the car is new, i would probably spend a bit of time and effort in making the paint flawless and then just work on maintaining the finish from then on.

    1. wash

    2. clay

    3. paint cleaner (swirlx or DC1)

    4. NXT 2.0

and then your pretty much set from there...

    :)

  10. Oh dude... Sweet rims.. What are they? 17/18s? Im guessing 17s since u can put all of em in the boot without stacking them on top of the others.

Great mods so far.. Liking it.

their 16's acctually :P would of liked to have 18's or even 19's but i acctually quite like the look of these raptor rims... plus i dont have to buy new tyres :P

will look at getting some bling 19's or something later down the track, but im more interested in getting my audio done nice. :)

will post pics of the wheels mounted on the car soon!

    Thanks

  11. dragging up an old thread.

I'm looking to get a HID kit for the low beams, but can't decide between the 35w and 55w kits - in both cases they'd be wired through a relay properly.

I could very possibly be moving out west in a few months hence greater night vision is desired, however I'm worried that 55w might be TOO bright whilst I'm around Brisbane in the meantime (considering other road users).

I've had a 35w kit before and it did the job well, but a little bit better couldn't hurt. Anyone here got, or know someone who has got, a 55w HID kit?

if by "out west" you're refering to Perth (metro area), you will have no problem. I'm running a phillips 35w 6000k HID kit in my aurion and i find its plenty good enough.
