  1. wow.. where do i start?? ok the ONE HATE i have, and some perth drivers may feel the same way, heres the situation:'

freeway entry at Powis street, heading south towards the city.

The lane on the far right is for people who want to enter the freeway, the two lanes to the left are for people who want to go straight.

every morning, busy peak period, there is a line banked up in the right hand lane, all doing the right thing, blinkers on, waiting at the lights.

some dumb idiot(s) decide to pull up in the left hand lane, and decide to floor it in order to push into the right hand lane to enter the freeway ahead of the people who are in the correct lane... this really ****s me, and i make it a point to not let the people in if there up next to me, as well as a good ol hand gesture.

this happens everyday on my way to work and ****s me to no end.

    end rant]

  2. Ok, so over the past couple of nights, I've been experimenting with some new (to me) camera techniques, coming from a portrait/wedding/sports photog background, this was a totally new field for me, so any constructive crit is very very welcome :)

started off ont he first night with the idea of using my 430exII flash, that in my opinion turned out to be a epic failure.

so, unhappy with the previous nights efforts, i headed out again last night, this time with my mountain biking light (niterider minewtx2) in hand and was suprised at how much better the photos came out!

so... here are my shots from last night, bear in mind this is the 2nd attempt, it has given me new ideas on some tweaks on technique are in order, hope you all like them, and please leave your input on what can be done better/what is good etc etc

    thanks!!

and just a token shot of the LED bulbs i fitted in the fog lights... not very bright in terms of projecting light, but looks great! will be staying in for summer and will change them out for something more practical when winter sets in.

  3. instead of creating a new thread...

as some of you Qld-ers would know i just got my car back from the workshop since it was hammered by a impreza bitcach in 2009...

i found there is a couple of clear coat oversprays where it shows up like a 'drop' in the driver side door...

anyone here could enlighten me to what grade of cutting compond should i be using to smooth it back...?

depending how bad it is (pictures would help)... and are you working by hand, DA, or rotary buffer?

maybe try something like meguiars ultimate compound?

  4. LED's? were you guys placing them under the car with long exposures?

yeah the effect certainly gives off a "late night" effect, and if thats what he was going for, then awsome job :)

thats got me thinking now acctually.... remote flashes, under the car... mmmmmmmmmmmm

I may have spoken too much. I'll better not speak of the technique just in case.

no probs mate! my uneducated geuss (without giving the technique away) would be "painting" the car with light? :P

  5. perhaps try adjusting your white balance? does your camera have the ability to shoot RAW? that will give you better control after the shoot to adjust the photos properties without stuffing up the image quality...

He was shooting RAW. I think the first step needed is to get a different LED light. I did notice that the one Michael was using had quite a bit of blue in it which got more pronounced as the battery was discharging. Unfortunately this is just the type of LED's that were in the light. Too much blue, not enough phosphor.

I think he was still experimenting with his camera so it yet to get all the white balance settings in order.

I'll say it again though, I love the effect. It gives it that 'late at night' look.

meh dont know maybe try another light

    cheers again

and yes camera is new nikon D90 with 18 to 105 lens

  7. Looking good mate...get them tunes pumping :yahoo:

    thanks lee,

sound awsome right now! and im super happy with the soundquality : loudness ratio! blows my mind! and even my gf likes it! said it plays loud yet clear! woooo!

looking at an option audio rear view mirror upgrade now, with built in gps/reverse cam :)

  8. sub and amp are in!!!

wow is all i can say, nice to have all the low end filtered out of my doors and rear shelf and into the sub, sounds amazing!!

had a grill fitted as well to protect the sub from UFO's in my boot :P

had the amp fitted under the drivers seat, so now i have the alpine 4 channel amp under the passenger seat to power the speakers, and the mono block under my seat to power the sub.. and absolutely no parcel shelf rattle! wheww! think it helped having the shelf double dynamatted and sealed/stuck into place with silicone..

took some pictures of the set up..

congrats on the awsome car dude, your audio has set the benchmark in aurions!

  10. thanks for the comments guys! :) very glad with how she is turning out, will like to upgrade to larger wheels down the track, but im liking the 16's for now :P

daryl, your wildfire red looks awsome already.... imagine how much "POP" it would give once you hit it with some claybar, swirlX, and then 2 layers of a good quality wax! :spiteful:

Lee, mate i cant wait to see your beast with the new coilovers! gives me something to aim towards! im going to go the pedders springs first, and look at upgrading to coilovers down the track (as with wheels :P )

  11. Ok so finished the detailing on the car,

after hitting it with a series of paint cleaners etc and 2 coats of nxt 2.0, topped it off with 2 coats or meguiars m26 hi tech wax.

couple of pics, will be having the sub and mono block fitted thursday, and pedders springs the next fortnight!! :)

enjoy and any comments are welcome :)
