  1. Are the actual springs on the Sportivo the same as the Toyota genuine accessory one ??

The Sportivo uses the exact same springs as an Ascent/Conquest/Levin.

I don't think this is right - if they were the same springs then the stock Sportivo ride height would be the same as the 1ZZ models, which it isn't.

Anyway, make me a reasonable offer on my as new, low km, Sportivo springs and they are yours...

  2. It's a question thats plauged me for a while... Will my 1ZZ-FE beat a SR20DE?

Yes that 2L is a powerful unit, and I've driven one so I know for fact that it pulls.

There also the fact that it has an 8000rpm redline that makes me think it would be a challenge. It just wants to keep accelerating!!

I'm waiting for the day when I can get a good run against one with a good driver for true comparisons...

When one of us finally get go head to head with one, we'll all have an answer.

I didn't think the Pulsar SSS revved that high

I have a photo somewhere of the dash while I was doing 205 km/h in a SSS. We were in a hurry to get to Bathurst...

  3. In case anyone cares. Unfortunately, I can only escape work for for 3 weeks.

    Reasons for trip:

    (1) Conference

    (2) Seek out trick bits that'll fit on or in my car

    (3) Lying on a beach in Hawaii for 4 days on the way back

Will talk to you all on the other side!

  4. Eibach's propaganda states that they are designed to be used with the stock shockers.

This is the reason I went with them, and not cheaper Kings or whatever. Well that, and they're German (almost Viking).

  5. Sorry to hear, but how do you deadlock a car?

All they need is a screwdriver in the lock, bust it open then bypass the immobiliser. Bye bye car.

Just hope it's gone for good, then you can get a new one from insurance. There's nothing worse than getting a stolen car back that's half shagged.

  6. Once again, this has all been covered before, as you would have found out if you had used the search function.

    E.g. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...wtopic=1036&hl=

    and http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...howtopic=93&hl=

    etc. etc.

The major difference between i-VTEC and VVTL-i is that the Toyota change point is controlled electronically and mechanically, using an oil pressure check valve and water temperature. VTEC is only controlled electronically, hence is easy to change.

Also, as stated the lift change point is at 6000rpm for a reason, as that is where it is most advantageous for this particular engine and cam combination. I do find it interesting though, that the Lotus Exige will change at 5800rpm on upshifts, to more easily stay in lift. The power/torque loss this incurs may not be such a penalty in this case as their car weighs much less than ours, and would still accelerate outrageously whereas we would notice the difference...

But given a supercharger or turbo though, like the Exige 240R, and dropping the lift point to 5000rpm then becomes a feasible and desirable change.
