thought it was that but new radiator, new cap, new thermo and new temp sensor but still got the issue

hey all, this is my last resort for my rolla. what is happening is its pushing coolant out of the system in to the overflow bottle but not allowing it back in. I have change radiator cap, radiator, bottom and top hoses, cleaned the overflow hoses. It is doing my head in and also i have been to red devil and they are scratching their heads on whats going on. they have said that the water pump is working an nothing is wrong coz it is pumping. fans turn on everything works so there is no reason for it to do this. it doesnt over heat. Please i need help!!

Update for all. Got a bit of work on as i have the following to change Machine head Gafite head gasket new head bolt set Full Tappit cover kit both grafite manifold kits new conrod sleeves new rings shall feel the change and will have some pics up when the kits roll in. shall have some more pics after the old head is off and the new one going on. it will be interesting to find out what the top of the pistons will be like when i pull them out

hahaha yer i kno but not bad for getting the car for 3K lol but yer it is a challenge i will take. i like its weight to power but it ****ty in the power. I am slowly working on that.

Yer i dont know hey lol but i am open for any advice :D atm i have plans to work on the air intake and put a 36mm double barrel webber on it full custom exhaust. maybe sports cams. anything :D but as i said i am open for suggestions

sup all thought i would share my little rolla around. been getting alot of work done to it coz of its age and all. engine: 4a-fc exhaust: 2.25ich cat back system with drift pipes on the end mods: Heat Wrapped air intake Lowered with bridgestone potenzer struts and king springs Full sound system i will have some video up soon

You should start a thread about it, I know I'd be keep to have a look and keep an eye on your progress with it :) Here's mine, which I should update: http://au.toyotaowne...showtopic=29761 yer been looking in to that and looking at some old pics so i cna put my progress of the full gut drop i have done the different sound systesm i have put in and other bits and peices i have done to it and there is so much more to do to it :D lol but i am looking at getting the guys that will machine the head to make the intake ports a bit bigger and shave about 1 maybe 2mm off the head to boost compression but also use Castrol GTX Pro2 20w50 oil that helps with the compression now. replacing rings con rod sleeves tapit cover, change the mechanical water pump to electirc one and mod the air intake to force cold air in and heat wrap it and heat wrap the exhaust mani when it is off. but also run a 70 to 30 mix in the coolant as the conrentrate i use 1Ltr makes 15ltrs :D so bit to do

Hey bud, yer already done that with a 2.25inch system with a set of drift pipes on the back. i have also heat wrapped the air intake and have done a speed dash over 4km and i have been able to make the speedo dial go off the guage but yer looking at pushing it more and boosting the compression ratio :D and yer it is manual i aint gonna be lazy and seeing the autos go up ****s creek so yer ;D

Thanks troyrollasx, i have thought of that and did some research and went nar screw it. 1 it will take to long and 2 i could not be screwed doing that. i find there is more things i could do to the carby version to make it better and it is easier as i am trained up on carbies. but i am also lookin at doing all the bottom end anyway so. i know i should get the whole motor worked but i need the car soon after as well. but yeah thanks for all of that i am still open for more options

hey all, It has come to my attention that my ae92 Rolla has just clocked over 306,000km which isnt bad for 19yrs old but not just that but the motor hasnt been opened yet. now heres my issue. everytime i start from a cold start i got a puff of white smoke (yes i know its burning oil) but every other time after its been run it doesnt. now what i am looking at doing is take the head off and get it recond new gaskets new timeing gear and water pump. but i am wondering if i can get a 20V for a 4a-fc and is it worth it while the heads of take the pistons out and put new rings? as a 2nd yr going on 3rd yr apprentice mechanic it is easy for me to get the workshop keys and a hoist to do it. i just need to see if i am on the right track and get others comments and ideas on what i can do and i love this car very much. i have attached a pic to let u know what i am working with :D thanks

i only got told today about it and i have just done that and fixed all that but the shudder is still there.

okay time to throw another spanner in the works. I was driving to my mates place on the high way and found that anything over 80 or just sitting on 80 the steering wheel shakes and that leads to vibrating the car. seeing how i was scared ****less of it i took the long and slow way home. i think that the hub maybe bent or that the studs maybe bent or what but yer. now my mate has only just told me that when he borrowed my car for a day he had hit a brick on the road and had bent the stock steel wheel. now i dunno if this would have done anything but i was not happy. any ideas?

all tie rods and control arm ends have been replaced i dunno what else to do its driving me nuts

i havent replaced the rack yet but yer i need to coz it is leaking but it wouldnt be that because it shouldnt have that much play

its in the left only and steering colum is tight there isnt any play in it

but i have replaced both of them and there is no play. not even the power steering rack has play in it

The only problems that occur while driving is the pinging sound, other than that there is nothing wrong. That pinging sound is a lean mix in ur engine. I had the exact same engine bro and i know what u mean but i had the pinging only. u just need to get a mecahnic to to make the mixture a bit richer but retarding the timing on it. i might be wrong but have a look at the timeing with a timing light and see if the 1st cyl is firing early or what. also just a helpful hint if u arent in a cold area the black pipe from the heat sheald to the air intake isnt needed. and u might wanan take the vaccume pipe of that valve that is in the airintake to make it cold air not hot air from the engine. it will improve the cars performance. give us the heads up if u have any issues

Hey all, I need some help on trying to find out the issue on my ae92 rolla. here is what is happening. when i start to apply breaking power i start to get a nocking noise from my left hand front wheel only. but it only happens when i am breaking and in a certain part of the wheel roatating(if that makes sence) and i can feel the noise through the pedal. But its not the bearings because i had replaced them after they collapsed. its not the control arms coz i have replaced them both. i need to replace the power steering rack but that is gonna get done in acouple of days. the hub has been machined to get the new bearing put on because it was warn. when i lifted the car up to see if there was play. i found that there is play from side to side but nuthing up and down. anyone know what is happening??
