  1. If they're figures from the government, then add about a litre or two to the city cycle. It really depends on how you drive too... but it will definitely use less petrol than a Commodore. Hey, I used to have a VN Commodore and that did 13-14L/100KMs... new ZZE Corolla does only 8.5L-ish/100KMs in the city depending on my mood that week. :)
  2. Thanks for the tips guys. But yeah... did fine... passes with flying colours too! As for the test, yeah have to agree with Chris, it was pretty damn easy... I think I touched the screen only 3 or 4 times during the test because they repeated like 10 no-right turn situations which were clearly unsafe; silly me even thought there was a glitch with the computer as the same question type was repeated so many times! Now the ZZE gets a nice green P. :D

    RTA HPT

I'm going for the RTA's HPT test thing tomorrow to progress to a P2/Greens. How hard is this test exactly? Been reading through the manual and it all makes sense to me but uh... heard these things were time based and if you didn't touch the screen within a millisecond you'd be screwed?
  4. I'm going on a roadtrip tomorrow with my friend but she's gonna be drinking some alcohol in the car as I'm driving down the coast. Now is this illegal? I know my other friends do this all the time with other people driving but I just wanna make sure. I'm the designated driver and I will NOT be drinking at all. Thanks.
  5. I want to get a new double din Eonon DVD player head unit for my 2003 Toyota Corolla Seca Ascent and I'm unsure about one thing... the head unit has an output of 4x65W. SO that's 65 watts for each of the 4 channels... no problem there... But... I don't know that the wattage of my Corollas speakers are. All I can find from the net are that they're 6.5" in size and that's it. I don't want to get new speakers cause the factory ones sound so decent and it would be a waste to get rid of them. Seriously, my father's new 2010 Honda Civic VTi's speakers don't sound as good as these ones... they lack bass and treble, yet the Corolla which is 7 years older has better sound quality. Go figure. So what I want to know, is how many watts is each speaker in my Corolla? Thanks.
  6. Wait. Is there a way that I can tell the RTA not to send me a letter.... but instead an email or something?
  7. Yes, I have asian parents *sigh*.

    Fines...

Yes, I got fined today for making a right turn at a no right turn sign. The time on the sign had recently been changed to 3-6PM, before it was 2-5PM when I used to go to school in that area (3 months ago). Me and my friends didn't bother reading the sign cause we were used to the old times... so all 3 of us got tickets. $197 and 2 demerit points *sigh*. Anyway, I wanna know this... when I pay my $197 at the post office, will I get anything sent back to me in the mail? I'd prefer not cause I live with my parents and they wouldn't be too happy that I've only got 2 demerit points left.... Thanks.
  9. I'm looking for some parts for my 2003 ZZE122R Corolla Ascent... - A set of 15" steel wheels and hubcaps from the Conquest to replace the 14" ones I have now... alloys would be okay too but I dunno if my pocket will stretch that far. - An MP3 compatible Toyota head unit from the 2004-07 models - The tweeters which are meant to go where the blank bit on the door mirrors are? Thanks.
  10. A guy my father knows wants to sell me a set of CSA 14" alloys for my ZZE122R 2003 Corolla. He said the tyre size is 185/60R14 with a 70 mm gap from centre of studs. Will these fit my Corolla? They came off an N15 Nissan Pulsar if that helps. Thanks.
  11. I was actually thinking of doing that, but I don't really want to cause I only have 60000KMs or so on my ZZE and it was purchased brand new, so its never been in an accident either...
  12. I want to add some "safety" features to my 2003 ZZE Corolla Seca Ascent. First I want a passengers airbag, then ABS and also that warning thing about the seatbelt on the passenegr side. I know that when my parents bought the car, there was an option for the "safety pack" at a cost of $1500 or so which would include these features on the Ascent. Now I'm wondering if it can actually be done... because with the passenger side airbag, I'm wondering if I need to get a new dash shell as well? because I can see ripples on the area where the passenger airbag is supposed to go so i suspect that area has to be cut out to put an airbag in? As for ABS, I think the brake lines need to be re-routed? I just hope that all the appropriate wires are there already... Anyway, what do you guys think? can it be done?
  13. Are these stickers still available for sale or are they not around anymore? because I would like to buy one of these for my Corolla. Thanks.
  14. I hope it's not too late for my contribution to the thread... This is my 2003 Toyota Corolla Seca Ascent. I know this is a Toyota forum and there's a Mazda 2 to the right, but it was a good photo opportunity at my friends house... the background landscape just looked so beautiful when I took the photo... I decided to stop for a photoshoot in the forest when I was driving down south... I decided to take this picture one sunny afternoon when I was bored... Thanks.
  15. Hmm... funnily enough the noises dissapeared after I drove through a street with really crappy quality and plenty of potholes that shook the car like a blender when travelling at 60KM/h. Well that's a good thing because it shut itself up for now and I hope it stays that way...
  16. Thanks guys. But... This thread wouldn't be complete without pictures. So I decided to take a picture this afternoon... (Sorry number plates are covered for obvious reasons) It looks pretty good in my opinion considering its age. Thanks.
  17. I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere (Sorry if it is), but here goes. My 2003 Corolla is making some annoying knocking noises when idling, they are very discreet but audible. It doesn't happen when in neutral, but only in drive or when there is a pulling load that you know... vibrates the car slightly. It isn't coming from the engine, but it's from somewhere behind the dash board on the passenger side. I don't know what it could be (maybe a loose wire or bracket?). But it would be nice to get rid of that annoying noise. So do you guys know what it could be? My mechanic is stumped too because it isn't the engine or tranny from what he sees. Thanks.
  18. Hello Eevryone, I'm stevo1210 or Stephen as people refer me to as. I am a year 12 student currently residing in south Sydney. I aspire to be an electronics technician once I finish high school. I currently drive a stock 2003 ZZE122R Toyota Corolla Ascent Seca hatchback, Simpson red in colour and with only 60000KMs on the dash since new :) It was purchased brand new in 2003 when I was still in primary school and it used to be my parents car but they have since upgraded to a 2007 Honda Accord VTi-L and so I was given the Corolla. I got my P's about a month ago and I love my Corolla... it's fuel efficient, cheap to run (for a student anyway) and fits into most places unlike my old 1990 Holden VN Commodore. This Corolla isn't my first experience with a Toyota though... Earlier on when I was still on my L's, I drove my mum's 1998 AE101R Toyota Corolla Seca CSi... until it was sold to my Aunty... very good car though. Anyway, I'm not planning to modify the exterior of my Corolla in any way... I think I'll just leave it stock for now. The interior on the other hand may get a stereo upgrade if I can figure out how to pull my dash apart to install a new dvd player stereo I recently bought. I might also install front power windows and an ABS controller if I can source one out. I have however installed reverse sensors for added safety when reversing (I have younger sibling and I don't want any nasties). So yeah, that's my belated intro. Thanks.
