The offset on the 17" RP03 to suit the Corolla which has a PCD of 4 x100 is 45... What I do know is that if you stay with the same offset you can't go wrong.

Are you sure about sticking with the same offset?

The way I understand it is that if you are going for a wider rim then you might need to make a slight adjustment to the offset in order to compensate for more of the rim sticking inside the guard, however i'm probably wrong so feel free to correct me...

Of course it's in the manual but given the various threads re. service intervals I thought it might be easier to put them all into a single topic. That way people can shop & compare what prices they might expect to pay and the work performed at each service interval...

I don't see why, there's not much difference with the 10,000k service since most of the same work is performed. The major difference in my 20,000k service was the fuel system clean & it's debatable whether that actually provides any real benefits since most premium fuels contain cleaning agents anyway.

EDIT: Probably a good idea to find out what work is included in that quote i.e. is it per the service manual or are they doing additional work such as a more comprehensive brake adjustment if required?

What is Express servicing? Is it just paying a premium so they service your car more faster?

Yep, everything bar the 40,000k service can be done in under an hour while you wait.

Sorry, should've clarified that is what MY dealer was charging & I don't suppose Toyota has a standard RRP.

After looking at some of the posts i'm aware of the huge difference in prices :o Anyway the price schedule was pretty standard when I bought the car but after looking at the invoices it's still nice to note they haven't varied too much from what they originally quoted me.

What do you mean by LHS & RHS i.e. are you looking from the front or rear?

I'm used to NSR & OSR, been looking at too many quotes in the past :P On mine the passenger side is a little less than the drivers side so that sounds about right I suppose, but i'm surprised that such a small difference would be visible to the naked eye.

Anyway after spending a couple of minutes under my car today I can say there is definately visible camber in the rear of the sedan & my car is absolutely stock apart from from the rims, but given Screaminrollas reply I guess this is normal eh ;)

Unless my eyes can pick up >1 deg...

Can you take a new car for a pre-delivery spin?

That was one of the items on my dealers checklist, took the car for a quick spin down the road & back to their service headquarters.

which dealer was this - cause they definitely deserve a tick!

Dealer was Tory Toyota - Albion Park Rail

Not sure if it's a common practise but since they're located on a dead end street I took it for a quick run, enough to check that the engine & gears ran smoothly up to a decent speed. The service department is located a few hundred metres down the highway and that was definately part of the checklist.

In reply to Bit Racer, my car had just over a kilometre when I picked it up ;)

when i started it, there was a rattle in the engine bay, but not from inside the engine.

it sounded like the air cleaner was hitting the firewall as the engine idled?

Hard to say without actually seeing/hearing it but I do recall hearing a similar sound when it idles sorta like a diesel. Your best bet is to get under the bonnet and take a look, it's possible the air cleaner hasn't been screwed down properly or in my case it was a large plastic hose that hadn't been clamped down.

A couple more suggestions. Take a close look around the tail lights & spare wheel well as they can have a tendancy to leak water if they haven't been sealed properly. Look for signs of water damage on the carpet & in the boot. Take a look around the windscreen as that's another place that tends to rust even if it isn't immediately obvious. You might also want to check under the door sills & the plastic under the engine bay to see if there are any major scratches since they have a tendancy to bottom out on the stock suspension.

Good luck with your purchase, i've bought 2 AE92 Secas, both around 120K and had no major problems with either of them.

Basically if the offset is too high then you risk scraping the inner suspension while if it is too low then your wheels will stick out of the guards. I think the 'deep dish' rims usually have a near zero or negative offset but please correct me if i'm wrong.

Anyway if you want to fit wider rims/tyres then you want to reduce the offset down from 45 to around 40 or so, however you don't want to go too low otherwise the wheels will stick out of the guards and possibly scrape. The best option is to visit a few rim & tyre shops & see what they suggest.

In my case I went from 15*6 +45 to 16*7 +40 offset with a corresponding change from 195/60/15 to 205/50/16 tyres...

I don't think there would be a problem, there's quite a bit of space under the guards...

EDIT: Just remembered there was at least one member (grimlock) who had Sportivo rims on the sedan, I know there were pictures posted but I can't seem to find them at the moment...

I use 205/50/16 tyres since that's the closest match to the original diameter but you could get away with using 195/55/16 tyres which gives a 1% speedo difference. As for the rims I don't think there would be any major problems since they are the same width as the 15" alloys i.e. 15*6JJ compared to 16*6JJ and I assume the offset would be pretty similar aswell...

I'm not sure about your dealer but when I picked up my car they gave me a pre-delivery checklist which covered things such as paint, interior, extras etc. Probably a good idea to take in silvabullits list aswell and double check each item as you go.

If you're not happy with anything then that's the time to let them know, don't let them pressure you into taking a car you're not 110% satisfied with!

Well I haven't got much to add about 17's but I do have a 2003 sedan <_<

I bought a 'cheap' Tempe Tyres 16*7 wheel & tyre package almost 2 years ago and although they are heavier than the stock alloys the extra inch in width made a noticeable difference in handling. Even with crap tyres they still felt alot more predictable than the stockies...

If you know someone with a Conquest or Levin see if you can borrow their spare & try it, I dunno but there might be a small difference between the hatch and Seca.

As far as I know 45 is a little too much offset for an older Corolla, usually anywhere between 38-42 should be fine.

BTW i'm actually from Oak Flats but it's just easier to say Wollongong...

Since it's a Corolla/Nova I guess it's a hatch right? Anyway i've fitted the rims onto an AE92 Seca.

The fronts fit without a problem (with the stock 195/60/15 Dunlops) however your speedo will read about 10% slow i.e. if your speedo shows 90 you're actually travelling closer to 100.

The rears DO NOT FIT even with 195/50/15 tyres. The rim sits alright but the tyre rubs on the inner strut tower.

I got around this problem by using a pair of 3mm spacers however USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! They can void your insurance if you are involved in an accident even when you are not at fault.

It's a type of equalizer found in Windows Media Player & some portable MP3 devices, not sure how it would work on a car stereo though i.e. is it pre-configured or user selectable?

Well mine was a rental, stock as a rock with around 50,000k's <_<

I doubt the accuracy of the speedo but i'm pretty certain about the 5th gearing being equal to roughly 30kph per 1000rpm

Just wait until the night time, even when we were there the temps dropped down to single digits...

Nah we flew out to Ayers Rock & hired a car from there. The roads are really quite good but you have to look out for the roadtrains which are up to 3 trailers each! They're pretty hard to get past when you're both travelling well in excess of 100.

However if you want to leave the highway there's not much but dirt roads, I wanted to do a bit of travelling but I think next time i'll hire a 4wd.

It was also a little later in the year (around April) so the temperatures weren't so bad, around 25-35 during the day...
