  1. Just curious ON Legal roads in the outback of course :) has anyoen cracked over 200kph in the 1zz-fe??

Yeah, did a trip from Ayers Rock (Yulara) to Alice Springs & back & hit a little over 200kph on the long straight just after the roadhouse, mind you that was with three people and a/c on.

    In 5th gear each 1,000rpm = 30kph so 3,000rpm = 100kph, 4,000rpm=130kph & so on, making the top speed a little over 200 before hitting the limiter...

With an average cruising speed of ~ 140-160kph the long distances flew by B)

  2. On my current tank full (98 Octane) I achieved 200km's from quarter tank driving gently...

Yeah I got the same last weekend, 206km round trip and I was still above the top 1/4 marker :o

That also included a trip down Lawrence Hargrave Drive to check out the new bridge which is 60 all the way...

  3. Hi,

My stock rims were 15*6 + 45 offset but currently i'm running 16*7 + 40 offset with no problems. I was wondering if anyone has experience using 16*7 + 45 offset (or larger) rims on a 2003 pre facelift Corolla?

I'm just worried that the additional offset may cause scrubbing on the strut tower or inner guard.

Edit: Probably should mention it's for a sedan if that makes a difference...

  4. I've had a set of 16*7 Starcorp Techno wheels in shadow chrome for about two years.

    http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_clos...rt=&part_no=439

They're noticeably heavier than the stock 15*6 alloys and the coating seems rather thin. Unfortunately due to the design of my rims i've knocked the spokes once or twice on uneven gutters since they stick out a little but I guess that's a fault of that particular style of rim or it could just be my driving :P

Apart from that i'm quite happy with the rims, paid $1k for the set including tyres...

  5. Unfortunately that happened to my old Seca twice, well three times if you count the guy who ran off

The first time I was going straight ahead on a green light when an elderly lady came around the corner in front of me doing a right-turn. We exchanged details & I called the police assistance line when I got into work to report the accident and give my version of events.

NRMA wouldn't help since I was only insured with third-party property insurance so the next step was to get a quote on the damage and send a copy of the quote along with a letter of demand to the owner of the other vehicle by registered post. I used registered post so that there was a record of receipt.

Anyway I got no response from the lady so I called her for the claim number and contacted her insurance company to see what was happening. Apparently they had rejected the claim since she told them a different version of events, so I then sent her a second final letter of demand threatening further legal action and followed that up straight away.

Finally her insurance company agreed to pay the for the damage (about $3,500 worth) but the whole process took about three months and caused alot of headaches, not to mention getting pulled over by the cops every week or so to explain the damage. I won't bore you with the other stories but that's the general process.

... I've edited in a few further details but if you have any questions then feel free to ask.

  6. Yeah i've noticed it, dirty diesel trucks & buses annoy the hell out of me  When i'm not using the air-conditioning I prefer to drive with fresh air, however using recirculated air with the window open usually fixes the problem.

  7. Thanks mate, that's the thread I was reading the other day...

    http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...l=smashed&st=25

I've got the factory loom (I checked behind the plugs) so I guess I can either get Toyota to fit the lights and accessory stalk or fit the lights myself using an independant switch, and yeah the coinholder mounting idea sounds good ;)

EDIT: BTW this is the kit available from ozeparts...

  8. Hi, i've been a long time lurker who finally decided to register...

I'm a 26yo from Sydney, had my stock 2003 ZZE122 Conquest sedan since new and prior to that I had a slightly modified 1990 AE92 Seca liftback. Looking forward to modifying my current car since the warranty period is nearly over but being a Toyota it's not like I really needed the warranty anyway ;)

  9. Thanks for the post, this is something i've been wondering for awhile <_< I'd like to update to the pre-facelift Levin/Sportivo grille with the black mesh & chrome surround, I found this one on ozeparts however it looks like the whole grille is chrome...

If anyone wants to sell a pre-facelift grille then PM me with a price ;)

I've recently purchased foglights from there...

From another thread I found that my car already has the OEM wiring loom fitted, so I was just wondering if you used the OEM plugs or the ones supplied with the kit? Also did you have any trouble fitting the kit?

Has anyone else had experience using aftermarket foglamps on a pre-facelift Ascent or Conquest?

  10. Hi, i'm a long time lurker who just noticed this thread and decided to register.

Anyway i've had the same problem with my stock :( '03 Conquest which i've owned since new. First noticed it at the start of this year & I reported it at my last service back in July, however I don't think they did anything to correct the problem since it still happens. I'll be reporting it again at my next service in a couple of weeks & see what their response is...
