  1. hey guys, i've been washing my car at the self service stations. I thought that if u blast the brush at point blank range to remove the dirt on it, it should be ok to then wash your car with it. Opinions?

    cheers

It's not just the dirt on the brush that scratches the car. The brush itself is very co**** and will scratch the car. Gotta get yourself a lamb wool wash mit lol.

ok will do this next time i come to super cheap! i don't notice becuz my car was already badly scratched and has bird etchings all the way to the paint layer :( and its flaking off! :(:( i'll make a new thread to show you guys as so not to pollute this one with my comments! :P

  2. howdy

anyone direct me to the best priced tyre sellers in brisbane? and recommendations on best tyre for around $130ea

currently have potenza adrenalin re001's all round. very good but i do not like there characteristics since they have worn down (about 5mm left) they feel a lot crappier than before. thought 5mm still decentt??

havnt priced them up yet and only after front 2 tyres for now.

only looked at kuhmo and federal so far. want to price up toyo and maybe hankook?

    considering federal 595-evo for $135ea

they also have 595-ss for $110ea

    kuhmo 80-110

pretty cheap and decent i reckon!

going to go look around archerfield on the weekend at some wholesale tyre places.

    thanks in advance

Dunno in brisbane but you could look at some falkens?

i have Falkens and they were good too, changing mine at 100,000. I think i'm about the same tread as you :P depends how you drive, if you want more grip the tyres wear out quicker, if u want durability than you sacrifice grip (argh the dilemma) :D

i got quoted for around 100 ea for the falkens 205/55 r16

  3. how come you looking for so many parts? have u tried the local wreckers? if not then the toyota dealer would definitely have it... be prepared to fork out heaps of dosh though :P

local wreckers doesnt have and you know Toyota will kill me with that parts but I believe I will get something between the people on here Thanks

to be quite honest, i don't think your gonna have much luck with those safety parts here on the forums. I would recommend you get the dealer ones as they carry a warantee on them (12 months i think). I personally wouldn't want a second hand airbag and/or seatbelt as it's a very important safety feature for a car.

also what happened to the one that was already on the sportivo?

  4. Hi all,

please help, i sold my TRD short shift to a member but he thinks that the bolts are missing from the kit, i have not install this on my car because it is new but does anyone know if u use the original bolts or does it comes with new bolt to hold the bottom????

    many thanks.

hey mate. I dun think it doesn't becuz when I bought my car. It came with it. The original was gIven to me but it didn't have any bolts with it.

  5. nice, its probably the blue leds are stronger than the greens. (even the blue leds i got now don't show under strong sunlight). Did you disconnect the battery when u worked?

also i dont think the centre console got anything to do with the headlights...

and how come u installed your HIDs again? what did u take them off for?

  6. BTW and1: did you get any difference in running with the short filter for the 2zz? normally we run the longer filter made for it. some people believe that there is better compression with the shorter filter?

The larger filter just provides more surface area for the fitler to entrap contaminents; has no affect on compression ratio, that is a fixed value based on combustion chamber design, stroke and piston crown shape. Use the larger filter if you can.

thats so strange, toyota should have made just the longer filter for both engines... or were they thinking that the 2zz produces more power so a larger filter was required?

  7. lucky this ones made in japan, its printed on the belt! =)
i didn't assume all quality parts come from japan

You seemed to be stating that the fact that your belt was made in Japan maked it better than the Chinese or Taiwanese-made belts

yeah i did, i would be more inclined to trust japan made products, but it was from a brand i didnt hear about before so MAYBE it would be better if it was... forgive my ignorance. But since cha5a said brand doesn't mean anything, i'll just give it a go.

in the end its a drive belt... if i was going for more parts like alternators, brake fluids, coolants etc. i would stick to the OEMs.

  8. never experienced castrol GTX, i remembered i used the 20W50 in my old 1979 car. i know they make a 10W30 for modern cars as well but not really sure how it runs in our 2ZZ engines.

I know one of the dealers use castrol GTX 10W30 here and the guy that i know got it from here still runs on it after 5 or 6 yrs without any problems.

edit: sorry going off topic here lol

BTW and1: did you get any difference in running with the short filter for the 2zz? normally we run the longer filter made for it. some people believe that there is better compression with the shorter filter?

  9. i didn't assume all quality parts come from japan, i just surprised to find a different brand other than the one i was expecting, hence asking if any of u guys experienced this brand before.

if worse comes to worse i'll just buy the OEM part from toyota

I don't think the OEM option should be your 'worse comes to worse' option. Should be one of your better options. By using an aftermarket drive belt are you expecting a performance increase or something?

Don't most drive belt changes occur during a major service (100k km)?

i was meaning that "worse comes to worse" when it doesn't fit or something, not saying that the OEM is worse out of the lot lol

no not expecting an increase in performance

yeah it does need to be changed at 100,000km, but unfortunately for my case its cracked and needs replacing sooner than usual :(

  10. yeah due for change this week. was thinking saturday.

going with 10w-40 penrite full syn

    and ryco oil filter

trying to get a oem oil filter.

never heard of acdelco, are they better than ryco and penrite? i see they have filters and oil

every oil change if done properly, doesn't matter what brand oil or filter (provided u use the manufacturers recommendation), makes the engine run smoother.

Brand choice is users preference. In saying that i will use penrite 10W40 plus 10 semi-syn on next oil change.

    Currently use 10W40 Mobil semi-syn

  11. nice dude, I was thinking of getting some too... how much did u get them? cuz i got quoted for 180 for a pair at cyber century in Footscray and i'm not really sure if they are C-ones or not!

i don't think the brand really matters?, as long as it fits well right?

how much u getting it painted for?
