  1. come to think of it... there was one thing ever since i came back from sydney thats beginning to happen. sometimes from rest in 1st gear. As i let go of the clutch and press accel, the car feels like its "wobbling" before it actually accelerates smoothly. So maybe IT IS the clutch... and lately, the clutch friction point seems to be lower and lower to the floor as every month passes. I'll drive until it dies eventually. :P I was looking at the exedy clutches and im confused. which one would be the best for the normal/occasional thrash? Just the heavy duty or the higher ones HD button kit or the HD cushion button kit? what are the differences? and would there be any other part i need to get with the clutch if i go heavy duty? cheers
  2. man the last time i was there, there was major flooding, which reduced the 3 lanes to 1. Then the next turn off road was called "Flood St". man was i ****** I was swearing my head off $#^#$^!#%!%$@#!!!
  3. Yeah i've just been on Sydney roads and (unfortunately after 6 years!!!) still the same. My ***** hurts when i travel from CBD to M5 on parramatta road =P RTA are ****heads. Move to Melbourne :P we got better roads! hahaha... wow reviving a 6 year old post :)

  5. ummm on the clutch slipping part... i dont think it is because i've ran thru a set of diagnostics to see if the clutch is failing or not. Everything seems to be ok...

  7. Afternoon guys... gotta question whilst I'm in Lift... When it engages in Lift in 1st, the rev is very smooth up until it reaches around 7800 - 7900 RPM then the "feels like" it looses traction in the wheels as the engine revs very rough. I was thinking maybe its something wrong with the engine? :o I think I got enough tread in my tires, so I think it maybe something wrong with the engine. I can't remember if it happens in 2nd, but from memory i think it doesn't... Also i've never went past 8000 RPM, simply because I can't because of this "loss of traction" any help would be appreciated! Thanks :)
  8. if you know how the box works, when you dont engage the clutch to slow down the primary shaft which spins the cluster gears, it will spin faster than the output shaft, so the synchro cant line up with the dog teeth, getting that crunch.. its hard to put it in writing but def not good yeah it happened for the first time, so i think i was tired or something... usually i make sure that the clutch is engaged for at least 1/2 a second before i shift, makes, the shifter smoother and easier. That time i think i must have released the clutch too early before completely shifting the gear. Driving the sportivo for 1/2 a year now and still dont 100% understand it (maybe 95% :P
  9. thanks i'll have a look first thing tomorrow... but is the belt the same belt that turns the alternator engine pulley etc.? its a 7 year old belt so maybe it needs changing regardless
  10. @SD So that means if I practice this often, the gearbox will last abit longer? B) on another night I raced with another car and I had the gearbox in lift 1st gear and then "tried" to slap it in 2nd. I think i didn't use the clutch and it made the noise it usually makes if u try to change gears when u dont engage the clutch... thing is, did i do damage to the gears? after the noise i depressed the gear again and slowly changed to second gear and it worked <_<
  11. Hey guys, lately it's been hot in Melbourne and I've been turning the aircon on quite a lot. Every now and then with the aircon on, I hear like a whirring/squealling noise coming from the engine bay. Sometimes it can get pretty loud but i think its got to do with the revs im currently on when it does happen. I was maybe getting it checked out becuz my uncle when he serviced it, said that the main belt is abit cracked. (The belt is original with 85k on the clock). Sound doesn't happen when the aircon is off. Any help is appreciated thanks! ^_^

  13. I was parked at the Temple doing community service and some idiot scrapped the rear right of the rear skirt. Me and my misses didn't noticed it until we got home! and being black, it is now easy to see... I gotten over it now but sometimes strikes me to the heart when i look at it lol. and you can't stop people from hitting it with thier doors and such... I was lucky to not have the actual panel damaged, so I can re spray it in the future
  14. Yeah same here. It's not too hard, just make sure you got the right parts :P and also the right tools. (used a crab claw to take off the old filter and was scared ****less becuz the oil filter was warped and I thought I warped the screw on the block as well)
  15. I've got mine at 74,000 km but lately (now 85,000km) it's been crunching sometimes when i shift to reverse. However I found that if I shift the gear to 1st before shifting to reverse, then i don't get the crunching sound. Is this the solution?

  18. thanks bro, at the moment im thinking i should leave it as it is... its got the following on it already 1) custom CAI to fit the original induction box 2) lowered 3) front strut bar (a thin one that is different from what seen from other front struts) 4) supposedly a $2000 sound system... (I just ported my newer head unit i had in my old Cortina =P) He said that the front struts that go near the back of the chasis isn't neccessary the best place to put it. (i think most of the corollas have it in this thread) I didn't really notice it until he pointed it out. I'll post some pictures up to show you guys what I mean, AFTER i clean the car lol... For some reason, his sportivo handles so much better compared to the others, the other 4 i drove before i bought this one all had the front strut attached to the usual place. Any reason for this u think??? edit: I just looked at the engine, it hasn't got any front struts... He did mention something that when lowered, it really doesnt need a front or rear strut as it's already stiff on the tight turns. reading abit in the forums, everyone is pretty confident about the ride handling when it comes to front and rear struts. I guess if your really gonna race then sway bars will definetely make a difference. I look more into a more comfortable ride and handling under "normal" everyday driving with "a bit of fun" at times when i'm bored :P
  19. whoa man, some pretty nice corollas there... gives me motivation to do up mine... but oh wait *looks inside wallet*, sticks head real deep in...* cries* lol i just got my corolla sportivo and its got a complete sound system and just king spring lowered... thats pretty much it. Oh i'm new to the forum too, so big hi to all lol... =D
