  2. i think he means a sportivo guys... LOL
  3. yeah i was thinking that too... with that said, changing the timing chain would be recommended too? man, a job like that u need to take alot of crap off anyways... might as well change stuff that needs to be changed later on anyways any aftermarket ones is ok? or just go genuine?
  4. thanks mate, i'll look at it properly on the 100,000k service :)
  5. hey guys, i think my water pump needs to be changed as there is water leaking thru the gasket. It's not leaking thru yet but halfway. just wondering instead of buying the full pump which costs like 200 from toyota, is there a gasket replacement that i can use? or is the gasket glued on to the water pump? trying to save a heap of money here... thanks :D
  6. I use ngk on mine... The ones on them were prolly the original ones... So there was a little bit of improvement ( due to normal wear on them). Just get watevas cheaper Edit: oh yeah make sure they r iridiums as well :)
  7. Cool thanks for the info... I'll try the ryco first and see how I go. If there is alot of difference in the performance I'll change to the denso ones... Cheers :)
  8. Diesel engines typically have more meticulous servicing (and thus much more expensive) costs than petrol driven vehicles. Combined with the lower revs they operate at and the target market they can last longer. But all comes down to maintenance, a poorly maintained diesel engine won't last as long as a well maintain petrol engine. cool, i thought it would last longer because of the oil thats also in the diesel that they use, that it lubricates the pistons n valves better than the petrol engines :P
  9. why was it "the worst"? how did it make the engine feel? more sluggish and less power? or was fitting it the hard part? cheers
  10. hey twisties, is your hilux diesel? the reason why i'm asking is doesn't diesel engines last longer than petrol engines in general?
  11. sorry didn't answer your question lol... yes thats reasonable price, but get it checked THROUGHLY before you buy it good luck
  12. fortunately for us owners (not for potential buyers) is that the corolla sportivo has ceased production... thats why the market value is held as it is... people know this so they are trying to hold the prices up abit higher than what its actually worth... good luck though P.S. hit lift yet? haha :D
  13. YOUTUBE PLEASE! LOL :D i wanna see this in action!
  14. yeah i know after reading the manual i feel not very confident doing it... hence waitin til my uncle has time to help me... have u done it before CHA54, or u'd rather let toyota do it? mixed opinions when im reading up on this one... some say its not as hard as it looks... i'm paranoid all the time for first time <_< but when i learn how to do it, its sweet as :D
  15. nah its not the money i'm worried about... its just sometimes the aftermarket ones work the same or better than the original parts... plus i was getting the cabin filter forom the same company as well, so might as well grab the fuel filter from there too i used the ryco ol filter and air filter for the engine and i haven't had any issues with it so far
  16. I think it covers engine damage as well, read this... http://www.rycofilters.com.au/company/warranty cheers :)
  17. ryco guarantees thier products and it specifically says it won't void warrantee (not that i'm under warrantee anyways) :P
  18. not really, the service book recommends changing it at 80,000 kms, i'm at 85,000km now. actually, its not that bad (40 bucks from super cheap)...;) its the labour thats expensive (100+ from toyota :o) i rang ryco and they said that the Z654[iT] can be used for both SA and JP builds... i'm not very confident about changing it for the moment after reading the manual... so i'll wait for my uncle to have free time so he can help me out
  19. guys, is the fuel filter different for a south african build and a jap build? one of the dealers said that the fuel filter is different depending on here its built... and i was going to buy the ryco fuel filter for my car and i wasn't sure it would be the right part or not...
  20. hey guys, i've read on how to change the filter at this post http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=11928 i tried to look in the service manual for the sportivo and havevn't found any pictures and stuff related to the fuel filter change... maybe becuz i have adobe 9.0 and it needs 6 to run i might uninstall the 9.0 and run 6 and see how that goes! in the meantime if anyone has pictures esp of the rings and stuff that need to be reused please post them! Thanks all
  21. is it me or is that VVTL-i sticker is crooked? <_<
  22. the resistors go on the longer leg of the LCD lol the way u find out is easy, if u blow the LED, then u got it on the wrong side, 2 bucks wasted (whoopie do) :P
  23. HOLY**** bearings and valve seals and gaskets etc all ok? what year r they? and whats ur secret? lol :P EDIT: BTW, the only car i saw with 400,000 on the clock was a holden <_<
  24. im pretty sure they didn't charge you 500 just for changing the fuel filter! :o otherwise 500 sounds right, though i live in melbourne and the cheapest i've been quoted from a toyota dealer is in coburg, i think they charge 420 ~ 450. Course they deduct stuff if u already done them... edit: my bad i meant the REST of the service costs 420 ~ 450... not just the fuel filter service i don't feel confident about changing the fuel filter by myself after reading the manual... i will ring toyota today to ask for quotes...
