  2. Hi i probably look quite stupid for asking this but just trying to get an idea of really how reliable these things are. I am helping a mate decide between the 2.7L petrol and the diesel 3L hes got a budget around 20 grand. but is looking to spend as little as possible. This little guy caught my eye. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=9914220&__Qpb=true&Cr=3&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 4294962537 4294962861 900 937&SearchAction=N&silo=1011&__No=45&seot=1&__Nne=15&trecs=408&__sid=12E617DC133E from the diesels i have seen this one looks a little to good to be true. What are some things i should look out for on diesels, any advice would be wonderful. Sorry if this has already been brought up i did a search for diesel and didn’t find any thing that related specifically to what i wanted. Final question what kms do you guys get out of a tank and what is considered high kms for the 3L td engines. Cheers Dave
  3. Good point , well considering i need the car as a daily . then i guess im going to be a cricket till i find a temporary car. i take it xoom you had alot of experince with cars before you did your turbo conversion and had access to the correct tools , e.g owned a workshop. Dave
  4. I feel you pain inregards to no info for australian obd II. Hey mate is yours a import from japan . if not where was it made. obd II is a very vague area in terms of compliancy For example OBD II was forced in america in 1996 (from memory in europe it wasnt till 2001 and in Australia it wasn’t till 2006 (from memory) I cant remember when japan was forced to do OBDII but if your car is Japanese made then there might be a chance that it will have OBD II. Even if a us version of the car comes with OBD II it doesn’t mean the car will have obd II in australia. For example the corolla sportivo 05 was not OBD II compliant but the american (and im pretty sure UK versions) were. I recommend giving this guy an email (hes in queensland so he doesn’t just give the typical if its after 1996 it will work response), he helped me allot with understanding obd. diagnostichelp@obd-obdii.com heres his website http://www.obd-obdii.com/ Hope this helps Dave p.s i think the ecu needs to understand obd II which i dont think it would if it was missing the ground pin.... ask the guys at diganostichelp
  5. if it doesn't cost more then $1600 for the part to arive in australia , i will do it in about 2 to 3 months, i would need help with the r&d in trying to make it fit into the chassis as i dont know how to weld and i dont have access to any proper tools. Would have to be a weekend job and i would have to have the car going by the next week... any one keen for hacking into my stivo ;P edit: i dont have an aftermarket computer though so probs have to get that first ;P.
  6. thats a bit of a shame looks like battery and radiator relocation it is :P.
  7. hehe yea i know 100mph wont get you a sub 14 was just curious if any one has done it, just trying to get a grasp if i should put money into the 2zz or just wait for open license and buy some kinda turbo vehicle. if i could get the stivo to a mid 5 second time to 100 then i could probably live with out a turbo car ... but i dont think mid 5 is possible with stivo n/a hehe any way back to the orginal conversation do you guys think this is a possible mod for us stivo boys or think its a waste of time , by the looks of it the power gains are decent, ...... wouldnt be cheap though and alot of effort. after getting an exhaust i have an uber modding bug lol
  8. True that, do you know of any members who are running in the high 13s for quater in n/a form , the fastest time i could see in the 1/4 mile thread was 14.5 at 98mph or some thing along those lines. Thanks Dave
  9. Hi every one Has any one ever tried or looked into getting the dd intake manifold for the 2zz from the states. I believe it was originally made for the celica, i was wondering if it would fit in our very cramped and confined corolla engine bays :P. below is the link if you guys are unsure of what intake manifold i am talking about http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=292138 Cheers Dave
  10. looks like it was just hitting the heat shield , perfect service from rob bliss once again , highly recomended. cheers for every ones advice, and cheers whitestivo , the previous owner of the wheels recomended white on silver ..... i guess he was right ;P. Dave
  11. Mate, that would be fantastic!Toyota Display Audio Unit it's the silver one in that pic. Cheers, Nath. bugger sorry mate thats a bit fancer then the one in the rav :P. sorry i wont be able to help. hope you find one. Dave
  12. When you say bolt on cat converter do you mean the bolts that connect the cat to the resonator and the bolts that connect the cat to the header? Thanks Dave
  13. Ok cheers any way for bringing it up. Its defenetly the exhaust hitting the heat shield , or along the lines of that. Has any one had exerpince with rob bliss exhausts in brisbane, hopefully they will fix it for free as tehy did install the exhaust. Red sportivo was your rattle a very squeeky kinda rattle? Ive also got a another rattle thats very high pitched and squeeky. This rattle has appeared after wheel and exhaust change over and its a constant rattle unless i am not moving, drives me a little crazy if the stereo is off and the windows are up ;P. I dont think theres much i can do about this rattle though as it would be almost imposible to find in the car..... Thanks Dave
  14. If its the same Bluetooth head unit in the 2008 rav4 I can photocopy that for u if you want. Could u provide a pic of unit thanks.
  15. Damit sorry guys on mobile can a moderator please remove 2 of the 3 posts lol cheers.
  16. Interesting I will look at it when I get back to car. Did u guys just take it back to exhaust shop to get it fixed? Or did u remove heat shield?

  19. Hi guys I just put new rims on the car and a ces exhaust and ive noticed every time i turn right at around 40 to 60km i get a rattle, knocking noise that sounds like its coming from the rear of the car. I suspect it might be the rear strut bolts have come loose slightly ( 5,000km ago i put king springs lows/super low combo) or maybe it could be when the exhaust guys put the wheels on they didn’t put the wheels on correctly ( the wheel nuts all feel very tight though). Just asking what else do you guys think it could be, want to make sure I have checked every thing when i take the rear carpet out as its a bit of a time consuming process to take it all off , then put it back on and realise i should have checked something else while the rear carpets were off lol. p.s i thought it may have been the rear bushings as the springs may have fallen out of place when the car was raised to change wheels (running standard shocks) but the springs "seem" to be sitting in the bushings correctly". I will be getting the car serviced this week should i ask them to check any specific areas. (I do not notice any knocking when turning left or driving over bumps.... only rattle/knocking noise when turning right) Thanks Dave
  20. Hi guys was just wondering what would be lighter in overall weight (using same brand of tire ). Gmax 17x7s running 205/45/17 or 16x7 Enkei RPF1s running 205/50/16 I bought the gmax's over the enkei’s as i saw that the gmax's weigh less then the equivalent rpf1 rim but now im wondering if i should have stuck with 16s... i assume running 205/45/17 instead of 205/50/16 would counteract the weight difference from 16 to 17 inch , as the tire would weigh less... A quick question what profile do you 17inch sportivo boys use? Finding 45s a bit hard to land in lift. Thanks Dave
  21. well i ended up getting some gmax drift rims with ku31 The handling improvement is absolutely mind blowing lol. The federal 595s in 195/55/16 were bludging out big time on the standard rims and made the car handle very very badly. Ku31 even though there a 320 tread wear they feel like a 260 or less, the braking has improved substantially . Only problem is the drifts are a 17 inch rim and with 205/45/17 i cant seem to get lift as easy .. even though there the same rolling diameter and there a 6.5 kg rim ... What profile do you 17 inch boys use to stay in lift .... its starting to get to me a bit ... Cheers for every ones advice, been a great help.
  22. Which eagles do you run i noticed they had 3 on there website ;P Ive decided to either go the t1r or the r1r , just having trouble to locate a store that has them in stock or that can get them in. Does any one know a place in brisbane that will stock them , prefferably northern suburbs. Thanks David Donnelly
  23. Which eagles do you run i noticed they had 3 on there website ;P
  24. True it sure does pay to put the monney in the shoes. Whats the tread wear of these tires , from what im reading it looks like there about 140? i take it these would grip way better then the 595 evos tread wear 260 ? should i got to a 195/50 setup the role is starting to get to me ;P. Im tempted to go the 215/45 but im worried that a 45 setup would make my revs go to the stratosphere :P , if any one can comment on what revs they get on the high way with 45 that would be wonderfull. Thanks dave
  25. My federal 595 evos (195/55/16) are finally worn out on the sportivo. Just wondering if i could get an idea of what you guys are running and what you recommend ( i know this has been covered with a large list containing all the tire choice for sportivo but was just wanting an update on what’s the best tire for my situation. I was looking at getting kumho ku36 but they don’t have 205/50/16.so I was thinking of getting ku31 or ku39 but im not sure if they would offer worse grip then my federal 595 evos. Could you guys recommend any tires that are ku36 grade of softness in 205/50/16? I probably don’t want to spend more then $170 a tire. I didn’t mind the federals , but I found there was to much tire role even when pumped to 37psi cold. Also wet weather traction was quite poor .... but then again i guess you cant get exceptional grip in dry and wet for cheap. Any advice would be great thanks. p.s does any one run 45/16s at all if so do you find the revs to high at 110? Thanks Dave
