  1. Flogging can be used, but you know how we are. The West Indies are wierd at times. Too bad it was so dismal in the end. Install of the header is tomorrow morning, and full testing satdy night. hehe, look out for vids...
  2. I've no idea to be honest. It isnt terribly humid, but we only have one dyno on the island and its always been problamatic so I really cant respond. I'll see what happens when i call to dyno next week.
  3. Ok, porting is done!!! The entry ways have been "smoothed" down and matched to the gasket to help air flow, and the collector cleaned up abit. This goes on saturday with full testing done satdurday night. look out for videos soon ;)
  4. I'm actually in Barbados, hehe which is literally on the other side of the world. You guys just beat us in the ICC champions trophy final but thats another issue, hehe. I think the pinouts for the sportivo would be almost identical except we have no traction control or cruise control. The issue for me with the header is shipping. Besides the TRD being terribly expensive, CES is an Australia company. A header does have "considerable" weight, and opportunity cost jsut doesnt dictate getting one. I will dyno once i get it fitted and stuff and we'll see how well it does.
  5. why? :P yes I've the 3zzfe, european E12 corolla 1.6L 110hp. Is the stock gasket enough resistant? yeah should be alright i reckon. you've got alot of work to do if you wanna get power from that engine. a 1.6L with only 110hp isnt even near the 1.6L 4AGEs. But, =) Its your car, make it fun, intake, exhaust and rims with a nice stereo, keep it clean, and your good to go.
  6. lol, your english is funny sometimes. I'm gonna put back the stock gasket. there is a hondata one for the intake manifold that only cost about 70USD. Gonna order that at month end. but I'm jsut putting back the stock gasket Remember I have a 2ZZ, from what you posted earlier I think u have a 3ZZ-FE??? not sure what your manifold looks like.
  7. Hey guys and gals, Been searching for ways to get more power and I've decided to port the stock exhaust manifold. Essentially, from what I've read on the celica boards, the DC sports header makes little power over stock, and not much details on the TRD. Weapon R just made a street header but they have their race header which has been dyno proven to not be as strong up top as it should be. Never the less, My manifold is OFF and being ported as we speak. I also DE-CATTED about 2 months ago, so I am looking for about 4-5 whp [hopefully] with the mods. Good news for you ppls who want to go Full Power FC. I'm super close to completing the ECU pinout for my 2002 runx. Not sure how close it is to you guys in Aussie as I've got a JDM runx, but I will make the pinout available for all those who want it to follow the same suit. Details and pics to come. The manifold should be done by friday, installed saturday morning, and "tested" that same night. Unfortunately dyno time here is TERRIBLY expensive but I shall splerge and get some numbers once everything is done. Stay tuned!!! [no pun intended hehe :P ]
  8. yo Ralyrt, you definitely should do a tranny change to fully enjoy driving the nuts off your 2ZZ. But hey, even though your power to weigh ratio might be fun, this power to weight ratio must be great!. hello K20A a la MRS http://www.jdm-option.com/eng/pickup/06_07/idea.html B)
  9. Hawk Performance Pads. Been running them for a few months and they are great. Part number HB328F.685 DB17 HPS much better over oem pads, bed them in properly...
  10. K, after alot of hunting I tracked this down. this is supposed to be the ECM pinout for the 2002 sportivo aka runx aka allex. I know Northy has done the PowerFC route, maybe he could take a look and comment. I'm trying to track down a celica ECM pinout to do a comparsion, but until then, comments well appreciated :)
  11. the first time i heard of landing lift, I thought it would be impossible. I'm not the best driver in the world, but landing lift to me seemed almost impossible. That was until i saw a video someone on the board made and heard what landing LIFT 1-2 was like. Heaven!!! Soo, I was intent on practicing and remember the first time I did it, it scared the $hit out of me. It sounded like if the engine gonna pop out and the wheel spin was attrocious. Needless to say, it brought an instant smile and i ended up practicing ALOT. LOLOL But my technique has changed, instead of trying to shift like those guys on best motoring aka, super fast, I just blip [the throttle] midway the change, LIFT lands each and every time, and the car jsut continues to shoot forward. I guess we all have our own driving styles, but for me, a blip midway always secures the LIFT on the 1-2 change. [its the only gear change i bliip through] Yesterday ironically, I decided just to change without the blip and i droppped to 5800 in that "hole of darkness". The car seem to take FOREVER to get back to LIFT and i felt down right embarassed, lolol. B)
  12. Thats bang on what i go for too and thats what i have with the TRD. :) We dont have any official quartemile traps here so I dont have an official time, but i did some G-tech testing one night. I have never launched the car really lol, but I did a 15.15 @ 94.6mph with a 7.05s 0-60mph. Not bad for a first time and bad tyres. I had lowered my PSI on the tyres to 26, the other guys that night had theirs at 22. On another forum i saw some guys talking about 16psi I've really no idea as dragging isnt my thing because we mostly do highway sprints, well, up to the speed limit anyway. B)
  13. YEah I know its "just a FWD", but you have to look in the scheme of things. hehe, I'mfrom barbados, 166sq miles, PERIOD. lol, we have good sprint highways and roads I limit my car and drive almost on limiter for 20secs easily, and the most common variant here starts at 1600ccs. hehe, so me having a 1800cc NA is abit challenging when you are running 1600 20V rollas that are running 15psi of boost. There is a oooold starlet here, the FWDs after the RWD starlets, do u know what i mean, those 12vs, well we have one here that is runnign 12s, CALM. Turbo + Big Boost = Replacement for Displacement So I'm trying to really build a responsive, NA machine by covering all bases. work on intake + exhaust manifolds, I intend to bore out my throttle body, concerned about exhaust and I will investigate getting the cat backpiping from CES and i'm gonna manage AF ratios with the Emange Ultimate. As far as brakes are concerned, I run Hawk performance pads. They are SUPER. They hold like a mofo and not very much brake dust. My only complaint is the smell after a night of rather spirited driving. As far as suspension goes, I'm running some TRD struts and springs and they are pretty good. My car handles really well, but still has some body roll under really hard cornering. In terms of opportunity cost, coil overs would be overkill when i put things in perspective. I tend to only do "highway spirited driving" [our hgihways are in noway like yours.] so my current suspension is very adequate. Final Drive and Cams are gonna be my new yrs gift to myself when i get my bonus the first week in Januay and clutch and LSD will be here by november :) There really is nothing else I can do except go stroker kit, and sorry to say guys, I'd rather buy an ITR with the K20A. It woould jsut be more cost effective ;) But the responses have been good, thanks for the suggestions and the insights. I still think you guys are lucky to have a local developer like CES. Most if not all of the comments regarding their products have been thumbs up. I trust they will keep up developing quality products for the market and even the external markets. I will post a video of the road i drive everyday, its a "highway", you may enjoy it.
  14. Thanks for the info and all the replies. I've had the same observation RE: TRD exhausts. Not many [if any] ppl seem to mention having it. There is a guy here with a apexi exhaust, and TRD CAI combination. His car sounds super aggressive on WOT but not as throaty as mine. I've got AEM CAI and TRD exhaust. Thanks again.
  15. Hey folks. Currently I have a TRD Version S exhaust on my runx. It doesnt really have a sound, but its pretty free flowing and gives a nice sound when combined with my CAI. I'm contemplating getting the CES exhaust but wanted to know if anyone did an upgrade from the TRD exhaust to the CES. I've read the threads and am convinced that there is advantage to the CES, but in the entire scheme of things, its important to find out if anyone made that change, ie. TRD or other exhaust to CES and how happy they were with the results, dyno'd if possible. Gonna get my intake and exhaust manifolds ported too to allow better breathing, so lemme know what you guys and gals think. appreciate the responses...
  16. Hey all, anyone got a ECU pinout for a 2002 Sportivo? I've got a 2002 JDM Runx but I imagine they would both carry the same ECU sicne they both are the ZZE123 Platform. Appreciate any help...
  17. nice ride. I like your rims. We got a tezzie [altezza] thats white on those same rims. Sweeeet =) ever consider getting a front lip? might add a new dimension to the ride...
  18. Your car already has a FPR... it is located in the pump housing in your fuel tank... The fuel system on the zze rollas is a returnless system meaning there is no return line running to the tank, and all the fuel sent to the rail gets used.... If you wish to run an aftermarket Adustable FPR you will need to modify you current fuel pump housing and remove the std FPR (may aswell upgrade your pump while you are at it I recomend a walbro 255lph GSS342 fits with little modification required and you can get one for $175 delivered to anywhere in AUS from http://www.importbitz.com.au/ ) you will also need to run a return line back to your tank to return the fuel, and you will need to either purchase an aftermarket fuel rail with the ability to run a return system, or tap a fitting into the end of your current rail to run the return from... IF you do go down this path, then with your emanage i would recomend getting both the optional ignition and injector harnesses, it will give you more flexability in the tuning... But In reality if all you are planning is to run a 55 shot and posibly clean up the a/f ratio and adjust the timing with the emanage, then there is no real need to upgrade the fuel pump, or change to and adjustable FPR.... For more info on nitrous systems with regards to the 1zz and 2zz's take a look at http://www.newcelica.org/ there are plenty of guys over there who have nitrous systems installed, all with different setups.... so you will be able to get an idea of all the choices you have.... ther is also a guide to setting one up in their installs section... Hope this helps Brilliant, it helps a heap. Thanks alot hombre :)
  19. I am planning on running some management [Greddy Emanage] as welll as installing a ZEX Nitrous system [55shot] B) Gonna take the plunge for the occasional blue fire spitting hehe, but on a serious note, the ZEX system is designed to run on stock to slightly modded cars with no need to replace the stock fuel pump but I was trying to think on the grand scale of things. Should i look to install a fuel pressure regulator and possibly a bigger fuel pump to deal with the new demands???
  20. Thanks for the info guys and special thanks to you Dave, the link is bang on. :) Pr.
  21. Its not the camcon info I require, its the concept behind tuning using such a device that I am inquiring about. What to look for, what the basics are [in practice and theory]. I find it hard to suscribe to your "it sounds like your shouldn't be tuning it if you dont already know" approach. Isnt the nature of the board information oriented? Thanks nevertheless...
  22. Ok guys and gals, I'm interested in tuning my rolla with the Camcon unit. Now before you jump in my skin and say that this topic's been covered, it hasnt; so lend me your thinking caps. Newbie question: How exactly DO I tune with the Camcon unit, more over Whats Air Flow tuning all about?? I know the logic is Gas + air + spark = combustion = POWER. hehe, so I'm assuming that with the unit, I would set / modify the amount of Gas and air at a particular rpm and throughout the powerband?? but then, how do i know whats good and whats not. I imagine the unit would tell me if I'm running "lean" or "rich", but how do i know what that "nirvana" point is??? I havent a clue... If I run too lean then??? if I run too rich then???
  23. Mounting the Camera was easy. I just put it inbetween the headrest and the seat of the passenger seat. When I'm filming, I dont like to have other ppl in the car. Power to Weight is key ;) hehe I did film a run when I FIRST got the car. That was without the CAI but hte audio and sound is good. Its a 9mb file but i can put it on if you wanna see it. When I return back home, I'm supposed to run a guy wid a 20v that is modded to BITS. Stay tuned!!! [no pun intended <_<]
  24. Any chance you will be able to to email the clips to me mate. Will really appreciate it. chemkid@lantic.net Regards Greek No prob mate, but I'm in Trinidad for Carnival, so I'll send you those on monday when i get back to my PC. dont have them on my laptop...
