  1. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/77310/corolla_runx_on_wot/ This is another segment fo the video, but its much better RE: video clarity and the sound is just as great. Listen to that 2ZZ motor scream!!! BTW, hitting LIFT in 5th is the scariest thing to me, lol.
  2. Good news is I made a video, bad news is, the cam was slightly too low and its abit dark. But the audio is GREAT, so hopefully the tunes will keep you happy. :) BTW, the dog is fine... http://www.metacafe.com/watch/77304/runx_shows_some_lift/
  3. b18cR is all balanced blue print cant say.. it'll be good match tho.. for a lap time stock vs stock.. i would guess dc2r :) Agreed!!!
  4. 18 to 18 B) how's the B18C motor compared to the 2ZZ?? you're revving til about 8800 right? I wonder how you might be up against a stock runx. I think you'd stomp it, but against an "altered" sportivo like northy, what do you think the experience might be like?
  5. i tried some injector cleaner and the car is responding abit mopre aggressively, but as you said, i put it down to some octane boost in there too. I'm goign to try a run rite service next month. it might prove interesting.
  6. The Octane boosters work, but should i trust the fuel injector shizzle? Our gas here is pretty poor in comparison to you guys. There is no selection, just "gas" lol. Its about 94octane MAX so i use a octane boost every now and again. Tried one called "the outlaw" the other night and the car was rediculous. Acceleration was crisp and fluid and the cai bellowed deep from 4k. But I'm interested in those injector cleaner in a bottle. Anyone every try it? We've got a Run Rite dealer / service center on the island and my partner with a Altezza had a treatment and is recommending it to everyone. http://www.run-rite.com/industry/products01a.htm Any input???
  7. i think you need to go to US mate, in his last reply he did mention that Civic Type R cost 10K USD more than RUNX. Haha, I'm in BARBADOS in the West Indies, :D So unless you're coming for the world cup next yr, hehe, I'd have to snap some pictures for you. Its unfortunate that we dont have the same sort of meets like you guys, even though if we did, it would be a whole lot of 20V corollas as they "rule" the streets here. [Power to weight ratio is a b*tch when most of those rollas are 1000kg or LESS :o] I cant tell you how stiff the competition is between the 20V and the Runx'. I've got to be careful sometimes when i see lights appear in the back flashing. Alot of them have got TONS of work done, and one shift out of lift means its OVER... Hehe, that is weak, I don't rate 20Vs at all, so they must have some serious mods over there to give the RunX a good go. I think you need to get serious and look at a Blitz supercharger or at least a good ECU to show these tryhard AE86 clowns how it is done, old school doesnt cut it unless it is a Hemi (and yes 20Vs are old school now, 15 years old now i think) I'm referring to the AE111s', those black and silver top 20V 1600 engines. They are modded to bits around here. Some guys have charged a few here. Remember, when you've got a 1600 developing 150hp at the wheeel in something thats relatively light, it goes a long way. Power to weight ratio is a dangerous thing when used well to one's advantage. I'm always up for a good challenge, but like i said, 1 shift out of lift and those guys are ALL over you. LOL Thanks for all the info guys and gals, appreciate it... :)

  9. K, =) once again all the responces add some clarity. According the the codes my ride is NOT a sports M. But I am inclined to think that it was styled by Toyota Modellista. Sort of like if you bought a 5 or 3 series with the M-Sport styling. Regardless, damn good car if you ask me. My initial purchase inclination was the Civic Type-R with the K20A 2L engne, but for 10K USD more than my Runx, the opportunity cost didnt make sense. With the CAI fitted, the car is wonderful on WOT. My next major upgrade, LSD ;) yummy!!! Pr.
  10. you dont like the super aggressive sound you get from hearing unrestricted airflow and raw enging output noises... ^o)
  11. I appreciate all the responses =) I didnt buy the car brand new, it was an import directly from Japan, When I bought the car, it had 27000k and I bought it in August 2005. The car came with the red decal on the engine, the red TRD dropin filter, the S Type TRD exhaust but unlike the red shocks and springs described by Shaohaok, it came with green struts and yellow springs. These are a few pictures I took with my cell phone when I first went to test drive the car and decided I was going to take it. The sticker on the inside of the door doesnt seem after market. it definitely has a factory look from the finish in terms of how it sits on the metal and its placement. In terms of performance the car does seem to pull abit abit harder, but I've since added the CAI and its pulls even noticeablyharder from 5000 til the red shift light invades the cockpit. I'm seriously contemplating getting the short shifter, but to be honest, once I had my friend's BZ-T wagon with a short shift kit and i couldn't find the bloddy gears . It was most embarassing... I'm sure it will just take time to adjust to the closeness, but mistakes can be costly...
  12. K guys, hope someone can help. I've noticed only recently that i have this sticker on the inside of my drivers door. U can clearly see the TRD and M letters but unfortunately I dont speak japanese. I've also noticed that my VVLTi on my engine cover is RED versus everyone elses' as theirs is in white. Unfortunately, I havent been able to check the inside of the doors of other cars. Logical deduction says TRD Sports M if assumptions count, but unfortuantely, sometimes they dont. Any thoughts? Anyone speak Japanese? Appreciate it...
  13. I just installed an AEM matrix CAI on my Runx. The performance inprovement is enjoyably noticeable. At that first cam change around 4k, a deep bellow gets louder as we approach 6k, but when LIFT engages, OMG. Its like an industrial saw gone crazy. I've got to say, I owe thanks to the workshop submission by Danthuyer. The Matrix engine layout differed from my engine lay out slightly, and the instructions beyond a certian point didnt correspond AT ALL. Thanks to the pictures in the submission, I was able to run the hoses to the correct places. The filter was abit big, but with some manuevering and a little denting, ;) it fit well. The sound is just unbeleivably addictive. I do beleive, I'm addicted to WOT. :)
  14. Yo Pirate, another bajan here, hehe, check in the garage to see what some of the other members are using, might be able to compare specs on comparable suspension.
  15. hey folks, anyone changed their pulleys or know someone who did? I'm thinking about getting the pulley kit for my Runx [i'm in barbados so we get JDM vehicles :P ]. Its only 75USD + shipping. http://www.aempower.com/product_pulley.asp I've did soem research and there has been talk about changing the pulleys and causing some sort of resonance throughout the engine, but the AEM only changes the alternator and water pump pulley. Ricers upgrade? Or something to look cool and be an "efficiency mod"???
  16. No thats a rolla shell with steroids inside in the engine bay... :(
  17. Hey guys, got me a problem. Couple days ago I noticed a loud "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" when i started the car. Got it checked out and turns out i had to change the tensioner arm and the belt. Well that did stop the noise and it seems to be comign from the left side of the drive trainer. We've gotta go inside to see, but the mechanic tells me it sounds like either the VVT or Lift gear. I'm not technically minded so it might sound like gibberish from me. Has this happened to anyone? My RunX is a 2002. On idle, u cant hear it, but once you throttle, you hear a "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" that gets louder with more throttle. HELP!!!! :(
  18. You could always get a custom blower with FMIC. Turbo charging anything will give quick easy gains. Reliability would of course be an issue depending on how much aggressive your mods are. Not sure how it would be on our engines, but I know persons have successfully turbocharged the 1500 variant of our car.
  19. I was gonna get the sway and rear strut from C-one. ← No no, you want a front AND rear swaybar upgrade. ← Noted. :)
  20. I meant the throttle bodycoolant bypass as seen at http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...?showtopic=3997 Wondered what benefit it provided or if it was moreof an efficiency mod.
  21. Nah, car tops out at about 187 at 7900rpm in 4th hehehe, then fuel cut syndrome kick in. its got alot of go, but I'm inclined to a wee more power. The CAI and fresh rubber should be fantastic the first few days.
  22. I was gonna get the sway and rear strut from C-one. I like their porduct offering and wanted to be alittle "different" to the usual TRD mods. I was tempted to buy their ECU replacement for the ZZE123 but its like 2400USD. i saw on the site someone tweaking the Apexi Power FC for our application, but I'd prefer that to the C-one ECU, especially at half the price. We've got bad drainage here so the CAI really is of a serious concern, but i'm insanely jealous of that ROAR when those Zs pull into the gas station late at night. Ok, so it looks like CAI, 215/16/45 on some 13.6lbs 16s, rear sway and rear strut and some trinkets like trd thermostat and caps. i am tempted to follow the throttle body modification as recommended on site. What the real benefit to that mod? We've got one RunX Z here that is killing the EK9 type Rs and giving the K20A power plants a run for their money. Thats running on VP racing fuel, and no back seats or spares. My key is increasing my power to weight ratio [however slight] and looking to extract as many ponies at the wheel as I can. But on a island dominated by SEVERELY modded 20valves, many of them turbo charged, one shift out of lift, and life is pretty much over...
